We have a player on our hands in Nikica Jelavic. He scored his ninth and tenth goal yesterday against Fulham in a Starman performance.

He has given the rest of the team one hell a lift and he must be great to play with. Leon Osman and Steven Pienaar think so.

Peanuts said: "Niki is in good goal scoring form. Strikers have to score goals and he makes it easy for us because his movement is unbelievable.

Ossie said: "Jelavic has brought obvious qualities to the team and he is scoring goals, so we are delighted," said Osman, who made his 300th appearance for the club. We were all aware of what he could do when he was playing in Scotland. You could see he was an obvious goalscorer and when we heard we had signed him we were delighted."

"It is good to have someone up there we know we can rely on and if there are chances made he will put the ball in. I think the opposition are a bit scared of him because they know he can score goals and they are on the watch for him.

"When that happens sometimes it releases space for other players in the team."

just a thought, but I recall stories about Rangers failing to settle up for Michael Ball years back, I wondered if this helped us land him on the cheap as others must have gone in for him in Jan....

At last we have someone who can finish all those good moves we have been putting together, if we would have had him two seasons ago we could possibly have been a top four side, I would say the best we have had for thirty years he is not only a goal scorer but also a team player and they very rarely come along, andhe fits us like a glove

to Drew It wasnt luck Everton wanted him and Rangers had a debt to us that their creditors demanded be cleared if at all possible We said we will offer you 5.5million but 1.5 is what you owe us so they got 4 million and rid of a debt instead of 7 million off the hammers think someone in the creditors may have a slightly blue nose

I bet there's a few teams kicking themselves for not going in for him, or at least not going in for him at the right time. If I was a Q.P.R. fan I would swap Jelavic for Cisse and Zamora all day long! I believe they offered £7m for him in the simmer (?) and were turned down. It looks like we had some luck in the transfer market for once.

I remember when all the rumours started about us trying to sign him and Champagne Charlie was on soccer saturday sticking up for him, big nose, mers and stelling were all saying that he wouldn't cut it in the Premiership but Charlie was adamant that he was one of the best strikers and forward men he has seen playing in Scotland and lets face it he is proving everybody who doubted him wrong, his all around game let alone his goal scoring is just incredible, Phil Neville described him as 'Mr Ice' before the semi and you can see that, he doesn't panic in front goal no matter the occasion or opponent. We haven't had a goal scorer like this since Lineker so let's hope for two things, 1) We manage to fend of the obvious interest and 2) He keeps scoring like this next season. Hats of to Me Moyes for yet another bargain IMWT COYB

Old Jelly has a touch of class - first time finish and passing it into the net are a sign of a good finisher.

He's amazing, but can he score between August and December, something nobody else seems to manage for us!
