Buzz Signs New Deal
Bookmark and Share

Sylvain Distin, signed from Portsmouth in 2009, will have another season at Everton after his contract was extended by a further 12 months.

Buzz had a great season, just one mistake, and was named Players' Player of the Season. He is intent on extending his Goodison career beyond the end of next term.

Buzz said: 'I want to carry on as long as I can.'

'I don't need a boost. No matter what happens, you can be sure I'll be there the next day.'

'It's a good squad here with a great atmosphere. I feel so comfortable with the lads, so it's a pleasure.'

'I've won one or two awards before, but this one has a special flavour. It's special because they are the guys who see you working every single day. You can't fake, you can't hide, you can't lie - they are there every single day so they know what you do and how good or bad you do it.'

'Guys like Baines, Fellaini, Heitinga, Jagielka, Howard - there's a lot of quality in this squad.'

The one mistake was a vital one in the FA Cup Semi Final but Buzz still feels it.

Buzz said: 'That split-second in the semi-final represents nothing compared with the whole season but is still something that I keep in the back of my mind.'

'That takes more importance than the whole season to me, personally.'

'I'm passionate about my job, I love my job but I only focus on the bad things I do, never the good things. It did hurt me, but I bounced back - I had to and I'm happy I did.'

Great news. I was shocked when I heard his contract was running out. To bring in a comparable defender would cost us many millions and we just can't afford to let that happen with our best performers.

GREAT NEWS. Buzz ROCKS and is a rock. There's not many times I can remember him getting beaten. Wish he'd signed for another 3 to be honest, he is still fit as a fiddle. Agree 100% with Alan, we CAN'T afford to lose players like Sylvain.

I'm glad about this. He's earned it. Let's forget the semi now, it happened, it's over. Overall I think player and club have been good for each other.

Yes 1 mistake was made but let's face it there aren't many more better central defenders than Buzz in the EPL. Who would you rather have John Terry or Buzz? No contest. Keep going and keep proving what a consistently great player you are.

Our new left back? Wouldnt be such a bad one if we have to say goodbye to Baines. No attacking threat, but we looked rock solid with him there for the last few games of the season

Great news, so pleased that earlier reports suggested he was leaving was rubbish, we cant afford to lose players of Buzz's ability.
