Fellaini I'm Happy At Everton But I Have Friends At Chelsea

With all the speculation about Marouane Fellaini being a target for Chelsea, the Everton midfielder has come out and said on Belgium radio station RTBF that he is happy with his four year contract at Everton, but would have several Belgium friends at Chelsea if the move came about.

Fellaini said: "If I have got to go, I will go, if not, I repeat, I am at Everton.

"I am ambitious; I want to play in the Champions League or in the Europa League. Last season we finished seventh with Everton, and we were not able to qualify us for Europe, which was a shame.

"If an ambitious club comes in for me? Why not, just to gain experience but I'm on vacation right now, I do not give too much attention.

"Every year they say I'll be transferred to the left or right. But I'm still at Everton!

"If it comes, I take, if it does not come, I stay at Everton, where I am happy, and where I still have a four-year contract.

"Everything goes fast in football. You can be transferred tomorrow, as you can be in one or two years. For now, I'm on vacation, I try to arrive fresh at the start of next season. If there are any concrete offers yet? If this is the case, I am not aware.

"They talked about me in Chelsea? If I had to go there, I would have several friends - Hazard, Lukaku, De Bruyne, Courtois ... There are many Belgians! It's good for the national team.

"Eden Hazard to Chelsea? It's his choice, I think he would have played in every major English club because he is quality.

"He is a talent, and he knows it, I think Chelsea has not cheated on him. Will there be less competition in Chelsea as Manchester United or City? In a big club, there is always competition."

Felli signed a new contract with us for one a very good reason....Can you guess what it is yet? Next club that comes in for him will have to improve their wage offer! Hmmm! At the time Everton was the only club interested in paying hard cash for his services! Well done Kenright! You got something right! A win win for both club and Felli! No doubt Felli will be playing out of his skin for the club until the Galacticos come knocking (with an actual bid!) I hope he stays but I'd love for Everton to be in the black (no debts) for once also! The worst thing that can happen is for the board to buckle under the pressures of Manure and sell Baines for diddly squat (below 20m) If we see undisclosed fees for any of our main players it wont look good!

Regarding the Europe aspect; Everton can make that quite easily. If the players pull their fingers out from August to December, they'd be playing in it every season.

He's going nowhere because he's too important to the team. It's just bad journos trying to sell newspapers.

Doesnt he have a 26 million buy out price in his contract?

My favourite player. Would hate to see him leave when his best is still ahead. The reality is everyone has a price especially when you are skint, but anything under £25 mill and we have been mugged.

Im sorry but if any club think they can take Felli for £20m they are having a laugh. That would rate him the same as Downing and slightly better than Henderson!!! Based on that been the going rate, the fact he's on a long contract and we dont want to sell, we should do what arl candle face does at spurs and say if you buy him you have to pay £50m-£60m.

The figures quoted do seem below what we'd expect to ask for him. 20mill is the figure that keeps popping up. No chance- he's young and prem proven and gonna be the biggest centre mid in England for the next 10 years- he's worth at least 35mill

Any player would say the same thing. They would not turn a down a move for more money and a better chance of trophies no matter who they are. Tabloids are not worth reading, they just fill there back pages full of shite! You could sit at home and write the stories they do. Baines is worth £20m and Felli £35-£40m. Cheslski just paid £32m for Hazzard (unproven in the prem) and not so long ago £50m for a miss-firing Lady-boy!

Let's start by accepting the comments as an accurate translation (which may be a risky place to start). It strikes me that matters may be outside of Felli's control. "If I had to go..." and "If I had to go there" just 2 examples. He may be suggesting that, if an offer for him is accepted by the club, he will go but if no acceptable offer comes in, he stays. You'd have to say that's not surprising and is probably the same for all of our players? If the Club is in control of the situation (and not many clubs are in control of players' futures), all power to Moyes and Kenwright. I actually think we (as in the Club) will be more in control of what happens to our players this summer most other clubs in the EPL and I'm quite happy with that. If Felli or Barclay or Baines or Jags go, its because Moyes thinks its right for the Club. After all, IMWT.

How can you be a top club when you sell your best players? Players like fellaini and Baines are not easy to come by. If we did find someone to replace them there going to cost big bucks and game time for a season or two. They can not be sold for the good of the club i love.

"They talked about me in Chelsea?" is the sound of a footballer's head being turned! No need for managers to tap up players when the media (who have no restrictions like the clubs) are more than willing to do the nasty deed for them! No wonder our team is always late out of the trap doors each season!

The key thing to take out of his statement is that he is happy at Everton, he says as much, insists it. But he's honest and realistic- would he like to play champs league, yes (and I don't think we can hold that against him). Could he end up moving? Yes, if Everton choose to sell him. But if he does not, he'll still be happy.

This the very thing that they did to Leighton about homesickness. His quotes are answers to specific questions and without question the answer appears very suspect.

Just give us one more season. If we still don't live up to our potential then by all means leave. Surely we could finally push that 4th again and at least get into the Europa League.

The newspapers are having a field day with this. I do think he stated he is happy and therefore I have a feeling he'll be staying. However, I'd have preferred it if he hadn't suggested anything about leaving. That just fuels the speculation. I wish the transfer window would end, which would stop the press from digging. They truly are a pathetic bunch. Why aren't they more interested in the Euros?

Hope fans don't read too much in to this statement. I think he's just being honest. If he gets sold - then that is football and part of the game. If he stays at Everton he will be happy and pushing for Europe. From a financial point of view, there aren't too many clubs who can turn down £20m ... and I'd like to think that if he is sold the bidding will start at £20m - not finish at £20m. Would be a great addition for any team - and a great loss for the selling team. That's footy!

Headlined 'Happy"?? Sounds more like he's just waiting for the call to say he can discuss terms with Chelsea
