Tim To Retire?
Bookmark and Share

Australia coach Holger Osieck has hinted that Everton should not play Tim Cahill when he isn't 100% fit, but he did say Everton have the right to do so because Tim belongs to Everton

Tim Cahill was left out of the Aussie squad to play Oman and Thailand because of injuries and then played for Everton against Newcastle a few days later. Is it possible that Tim will retire from International football to concentrate on prolonging his Everton career?

Osieck said: "This is club business. They pay him and, if they think they can play him for a certain time in the game, it is their choice.

"The situation with Tim had been even after the Asian Cup he was not 100% fit, and I knew it. But they [Everton] still played him, because in a way they needed him.

"That was, down the road, not very beneficial to him. He needs to be fit, 100% fit, which isn't the case. I saw the game and was very interested when he came on. He didn't touch the ball too often, he was not very involved, and he plays a different tactical position than he does with the Socceroos. It will be interesting how the story goes on."

I hope he does but for the right reasons, mainly being that I'm not an Australian and that he at his age is only going to suffer most at Everton. When he cam on against Newcastle he was straight away noticable, Holding the ball up bringing in other players and aggressive with lot's of guile too. He's Great!

We pay his wages. Period. If David Moyes wants him to wash his car, Tim goes and gets the shammy leather and that is all there is to it Mr Osieck.

If Tim Cahill does think possibly it's becoming a bit of a strain to play for his country as well as his club, then only he will decide if he is going to retire from playing for Australia. In any case, if he felt his fitness was this much of a problem, then he would get a second opinion and have his fitness checked by one of our fitness coaches or the club doctor if needs be. I understand the Aussie Coaches concern, but it may not be as bad as he thinks and Tim would decide not to play if he felt he would be straining himself that little too much and neither would David Moyes play him either, if that was indeed the case.
