Baines In With A Shout To Start For England
Bookmark and Share

With only days to go before England's opening game in Group D of Euro 2012, Everton's Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines could both be involved.

John Terry has a hamstring problem which could let Jags in to start. Now we hear that Ashley Cole missed the last training session, which could put his starting place in doubt.

England have said he is 'resting', but some media reports are saying he is ill with a stomach bug. This could leave the door open for Bainesy to start.

Baines should start over Cole anyway. Much better left back these days!

I hope neither Johnny, Gibbo, Bainsey or Jags get any playing time. I hope they keep fit doing the training but don't actually play, thus keeping sharp and fit but not getting injured. That way they come back to us raring to go for next season. Another concern of mine is Bainsey playing and doing well and making Utd deffo in for him. If he doesn't play they may not make a bid. I wish England well but I'd sell my own granny for the Blues to keep all our key players, get a good start and sustain it over the season.
