Singing in the pain?

This season Goodison has often been as quiet as a library.

Now and then we hear a suggestion that there be 'a singing section' at the ground.

But if there were, would anyone want to be a part of it?

Do you think there would be enough volunteers for it to work?

How would it be organised?

What do you think?

Picture the scene, the TV show "Shooting Stars"and it's the segment of this thirty minutes of lunacy were upon co-host Vic Reeves holds court and tells a joke, and as regular as clockwork, there is absolute no response from,Bob Mortimer, team captains and weekly guests who more often than not,are truly oblivious to what it's all about,Larry Hagman and David Guest are testimony to that.Anyway post delivery of the pun,not a titter, belly laugh or any recognition in any shape or form resonates around the studio floor, apart from the customary bale of hay rolling across the floor accompanied with a dissipating howling wind.Yes as a comedy show,we know it's all choreographed for that effect, and that's what Goodison can be without any choreography aside, because we smell doom and gloom further away than a polar bear scents a seal cub. Many times under Walter Smith the nil nils season, reminded me very much of the Shooting Stars sketch, terribly dire performances with little or no entertainment value on show, pessimism is part of our make up and that's what makes us unified when we do smell blood eg Fiorentina home fixture(for me the best atmosphere in years)Liverpool(Gosling winner)Man United(Fergusons header)and most recently the Man City fixtures especially Fellaini's pirouette that galvanises the brotherhood and sisterhoods of all corners of our stadia in contributing to what quite rightly is a positively hostile environ, that makes life difficult for any opposition. We do not need a designated singing section,we simply desire a designated squad of players who can consistently string sequence after sequence of positive performances, resulting in the butterfly effect that becomes a vocal fortress,we can rise rise to the challenge as it has been proved by us all,it's just that were a moody shower who do need some tender loving results, to cajole us into the Nessan Dorma of vocal reinforcement, and when those occasions surface, well i don't mind purchasing a packet of throat lozenges, their worth it.

My first games at Goodison were watched from the boys pen. Many of you will know this section of the Gladwys St. end, bring that section back and i guarantee none of you will moan at the lack of vocal support.

I dont think there needs to be a singing section, but I can see why people would suggest it. Weve just beat Fulham 4-0 and there were times in the match that they still out sung us even when we are 3 or 4 up.

we shouldn't need a singing section. Every one should just sing any way. I guarantee tomorrow the only ones singing will be the lads at the back of the gwladys street, they sing their hearts out and often vent their frustration at blues who dont sing! we are the best fans in the world we need to start sounding like it COYB!

Just bring back a standing section for non season ticket holders right in the middle of Gwladys Street, so people who enjoy an old fashioned atmosphere can stand together and sing and shout

Back in the 70s and most of the 80s I used to stand in the Bullens Road under the clock and even when we were not doing that great there was still lots of noise in the ground. If we were not singing we would be taunting the away team and then drownded them out when they started to sing and this was from the whole ground led by the Street End boys, so you should sing for the Blues wherever you are watching.

Used to love the atmosphere in the Gwladys even when we were terrible to watch in the 90's. Used to have such a grin at the match. Singing all the players songs as they warmed up. Giving the opposition loads when they were trying to ignore us and concentrate. Buzzing off 'Lancashire's finest'. It has been quiet the last few years. I now sit in the Main Stand. It is like a library and even though Id love to be giving it beans in the Gwladys I prefer to keeping an eye on how we are playing across the park.

It all sounds a bit unspontaneous. The reason why it has been so quiet is that, particularly in the first half of the season, there hasn't been that much to sing about, but when there has been, the City game springs to mind, there's no one better. What we don't want is to end up like liverpool and have scheduled times for each song regardless of how the team is playing.

You would have to have it in the corner of the Gwladys Street. Would be fitting if a choir then the corner next to St Lukes! Personally I wouldn't move my season ticket for it.
