RUN IT! LIVE IT! LOVE IT! The Marathon is reborn in Merseyside on 9th October 2011 after last being run here in 1992.
We know this is hard to believe but our own Lavo is taking it on. Yes, Lavo is running the 26.2 miles two weeks next Sunday!!
Gone are the weekends of beef chow mein and 14 pints of lager on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, these have long been replaced by lentils, boiled rice only and pasta, all washed down with an isotonic squash drink.
Good luck from all at Blue Kipper.
Lavo said: 'If in the last few months you have been sensing mild earth tremors especially in the Aintree area please don't be alarmed, nothing bad is on the way. It has just been me training for this year's inaugural Liverpool marathon and I have been pounding the streets in preparation.
I am running for the Children Cancer Support Group (CHICS) as a result of a young close family relative being diagnosed and who is still currently fighting cancer.
CHICS was formed back in 1986 (http://www.chics.org.uk/ ), and it raises funds and helps youngsters who are being treated at Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital. They also provide support and self help for parents of children with cancer across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
I am doing my bit, so if I can be cheeky and ask you to dig deep and spare a few quid for a fantastic charity. I am sure this will spur me on to finishing the 26 mile course even if it is with Deep Sea Diver Man the following Wednesday.'
