With all the doom and gloom around Goodison of late it was good to see one of our top players in Phil Jagielka signing on the dotted line for four more years. Jags along with Mikky has now pledged his long term future to the Blues.
With the likes of Seamus, Rodders, Screech and Bainsey to name but a few at the club all on long term deals, the future is bright, the future is Royal Blue.
Jags said: 'I am really pleased. We had talks a while ago and I knew it would only be a case of getting it signed and sealed. You can tell by the smile on my face that I am absolutely delighted to commit my future to Everton.
We tied down a few key players last summer and that was a real show of intent by the Club.
And with me signing again then that is another really good sign.
Obviously I wished Everton might have had a better season this year, but I am confident the next three or four will be better.
We know we have got to build for the next few years now. We don't have a lot of money to spend in the transfer market so it is important we keep our best players here. Hopefully I am included in that bracket.
The squad we have is a good platform for the Club to move forward. Maybe we can add one or two more in the summer and keep progressing.'
