Everton have signed Marcus Hahnemann (Hannah to his mates) on a short-term deal until January 2012.

The 39-year-old Tim Howard look-a-like and USA compatriot was released by Wolves this summer. Marcus will provide cover for Tim and Slovakia international Jan Mucha.

Hannah had been training with Wolves while he searched for a new club but has now been snapped up by Moyesy.

Welcome to Goodison Marcus.

We will have signed Hannahmen because Mucha will be going soon. I dont rate Mucha at all and get worried when he is in goal so Hannahmen is a good signing. Hopefullly we will get a bit of bob from Mucha

Good keeper. Useful backup. I have to agree with the posters predicting Mucha's exit. Has said in the past he's not happy playing second fiddle to Tim. If we can get a fee for him even better!

it could just be me, but having watched Mucha on Wednesday against the Baggies I get the feeling that Moyes dosent fancy him as a keeper anymore. He cant kick and is way too quiet in the box, plus he looks mighty vunerable when the ball is in the air. Maybe Moyes has bought him so that Bainesy has got someone to share his Podcast with !

Suspect Moyes is not overy impressed with Mucha and/or knows that an offer is on the table for him so is sounding out Marcus as replacement back-up...for free obviously!

Phil from Warrington: I'd prefer it if both keepers (ie Howard & Mucha) were getting two or three games per week in order to stay sharp and ready for first team duty. I don't think goalkeepers will start whining about fixture congestion any time soon... But I'm not against having a 3rd keeper on board for extra cover; Turner left permanently over the summer and fair play to anyone who knows the name of the next lad who would step in as the first team bench warming keeper if Howard were to be injured or suspended. Mike from Bootle: I'd say we've loaned out Baxter not only to free up wage money; it's also to give him first team experience that he won't find here at the moment. So it's a good deal all round. Hahnemann's a model professional and I'm sure will be a good person and player to have at the club.

Mike, surely you should be having a go at Moyes if anyone for taking him. Phil is right about 3 keepers. Why do you constantly want to have a go at Kenwright? Look at all the money Villa have spent. I wouldn't trade places with them or the Red Shite who have spent loads. Stop moaning and support the club.

Might be signing him to sell Mucha in January to raise cash

If he is half decent in training and Moyes thinks he is good enough cover then Mucha will be sold in january.

Agree with Mike @ 1 on this one. Sorry Phil @ 3 but the way I see it Howard should be in goal for all first team matches with Mucha on the bench. Mucha should be in goal for all Reserve matches to keep his match fitness/practice up in case he is called upon and as for 3rd Goalie that is where the youth team players should be getting their chance. If Mucha is injured or playing for the first team play a youth goalie in the reserve match. If we had bizzarely lost both Howard and Mucha I'd say this would be a good loan, otherwise why bother? If we could get one more loan in get a good young striker from say Chelsea or United like Bolton and Sunderland did last year with Sturridge and Welbeck.

cant see anything happening after january 2012, by then we will be well into the cups if we continue to win the games and so howard will be used due to them probably being against hard opposition, he will be released in january after this deal is over. Strange one though!

After Mucha's performance the other night, I hope this guy is 2nd choice.

We need a third keeper because we have more than one team unless you want our top 2 keepers playing week in week out twice or even 3 times a week in reserve matches etc

Can I ask the obvious question,'Why???' I thought we needed to get people off the wage bill, so we loan out Yobo & Baxter and sold Arteta, Yak & Beckford. Now were signing a 3rd goalkeeper! Makes no sense. Sorry but I find it hard to beleive what goes on at this club. Another contradiction from KenTight
