Shane Duffy's performance was one of the few plus points from the dreadful game at Goodison against Blackburn. He definitely looks the part. Moyesy agrees

Do we need to get a centre back in the window?

David Moyes said: "Duffy has played really well in the games. He has been steady and looked mature in the games he has played.

"It is not easy for a young centre-half to play in the Premier League and we have tried to keep his game steady and simple and he has done well."

Everything you want from your centre half, big, strong, reasonably quick and almost nicked a goal for us. Hopefully he continues his good form as he looks the part!

As soon as Jag and Distin are fit he will be out the team.If i was a young player at Everton I would be looking to leave the club as soon as i was good enough to play at championship level because Moyes will never give them a run in the team. Moyes has a proven track record of giving youngsters a chance ONLY when he has no other choice then dropping them as soon as a senior player if fit, then says he does it to protect them. Where are these young players surpose to get confidence and experience from when they get dropped at the first opportunity.

WHY IS THAT MOYES WILL ONLY PLAY YOUNGSTERS IF HE ABSOLUTELY HAS TO? eg, GUEYE, BAXTER, BARKLEY, MCALENY, please please please give them a chance, listen to what the fans want

I liked the look of him in Europe a couple of seasons ago. He looks well organised and we didn't look as nervy at the back yesterday as we have been doing in recent months, well apart from when everyone of our players went to sleep for their couple of chances which looked more like communication and concentration issues. Well in lad for stepping up to the plate. One for the now and the future then

Won't be long before Moyes decides to "protect" him by dropping him entirely from the first team squad for 5 months then

He's looked the part in reserve games , my hunch is he's in for the duration of this season and for good. Summer will see some of our stalwarts move on and we need some rays of hope in these testing times. At least the RS got whacked so its not been such a bad weekend.

Been really impressed with the lad and thought he has been unlucky not to nick a goal on our set pieces as well. There are obviously one or two areas he will be looking to improve on but for a 20 year old he has not looked out of place at all.

Yes he is good but he's been that good since he was 17-18 why it takes so long for a boy to be recognised as a senior is beyond me?? too much faith is put into tried and tested methods and not enough into faith in these kids who are good enough to step up, the amount of times we've heard players saying i had confidence problems when i was younger, mmmm makes me think are they given them by over precautious training staff scared for their own job safety, time to change it, in some way.
