The Alf Tupper Of Everton

Denis Stracqualursi scored his first goal for Everton last night in the 2-1 FA Cup win over Fulham.

The centre forward from Villa Domingo in Argentina was seen by most fans as more of an Alf Tupper type character, but with his non stop running and his willingness to work he could yet become a fans hero.

Denis said: "I didn't know what to do in that second. But it was for my son, my family and my parents in Argentina. I'm happy I got the goal for them.

"During the week the coach spoke with me and said I had a chance to play. He told me there are a lot of quality forward players in the team so I have to take every opportunity that I get.

"I've waited my time but I'm very happy to get my first goal.

"I thought I did well and I'm very happy with the outcome."

Denis defended from the front he never stopped chasing down defenders thus stopping them play football from the back and thru the midfield. The lad might have a bit more to offer than people are giving him credit for?

A bit harsh that Blue Kipper. I don't think he'll become a hero but he might make a good back up. I wouldn't go overboard on the backs of a single goal. He's got a long way to go yet. Good luck to him though, he's definitely a trier.

f..k me Alf Tupper ' the tough of the track' that takes me back. B.T.W. at the moment Straq is far more use to the team than Saha, for all his limitations

Delighted for the lad. Sure, he doesn't have the natural talent of the other strikers, but he gives everything whenever he gets on the pitch. Deserved his chance, and hope its the first of many.

Denis worked his socks off on Friday. Before the match, when it was announced he was starting, there some people who wondered what was going on - including the commentators on Radio Merseyside. Well he proved them wrong. Granted, he aint no Lionel Messi, but if all of the players in our squad put as much effort into their performance when they play as he did then I am sure we would be doing alot better. He took his goal well and gave 100% for the team. Lets hope he starts on Tuesday as well - and lets get behind the team, encourage them to do well and hopefully we can climb the league!! Come on the (new) Big Man!!
