Moyesy Says Landon Is Going Back
Bookmark and Share

David Moyes has insisted there is no chance of retaining the services of LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan, after his loan spell finishes this month.

Moyesy has seen us from the arrival of the Californian who assisted both goals in Friday night's FA Cup victory over The Cottagers and again last night against Sitteh.

But, despite being admired by players, management and fans, Donovan's future lies back in the USA, Moyes confirmed.

Moyesy said: 'Landon has started really well, I thought he was our best player in a couple of his first games. I actually didn't think he played too well in midweek, he made the two goals but his all around play could have been better.'

'But he's done so well for us, he's been great to come in and hit the ground running which is what we needed. You wouldn't know he was someone here on just a short loan.'

'Keeping is completely out of the question, he's going back to the Galaxy and we'll always be thankful for the time that we've had with him.'

Everton tried to lure Landon away from the Galaxy after his first spell at Goodison in 2010 but were priced out of a deal.

It now looks as if we will have to wait even longer.

I can understand how he feels, he has the nice weather, probably comfortable living - friends and family. But I reckon, maybe later on he just might like a go with the Blues in a year or two time. Here's hoping. Let's watch this space everyone. COYB

I lived in North America for a while and followed the MLS. It's sprinkled with decent players but on the whole it's about League 1 standard. Perhaps LA Galaxy could play in the Championship. But for a player as good as Landon to play the majority of his career there is a waste.

Let's get this straight. Donovan loves LA Galaxy and that's where he wants to play. All this talk of 'Kenwright needs to ....' and 'a few million will prise him' is pointless. He wants to play for LA Galaxy and doesn't want to play full time for any team - not just Everton. Any

LA Galaxy are defending champions, so he will want to try and win it back to back. Maybe if they hadn't of won it, then he might have stayed

Of any player I have seen in a blue shirt over recent years, Landon is the one we should move heaven and earth to keep. His movement, touch, vision, passing, crossing and finishing, not to mention he is no slouch is of the highest standard. 29 he maybe - but 4 years of Landon - well worth a few million!

We always knew he'd have to go back. Would love him to stay though.
