Hibbo On The Count

Tony Hibbert was upbeat about the flourishing performances of his teammate, striker Denis 'The Count' Stracqualursi, who produced his second impressive display in four days against Sitteh on Tuesday night.

Hibbo said: 'Denis took a few training sessions to really find his feet here.'

'I haven't experienced going to another country when you don't speak the language much and it will be very tough.'

'Especially coming away from home and what you're used to into the Premier League must be so hard. It must affect everyone at first. But now he's showing everyone what he shows us he's capable of in training.'

'Denis is all about hard work. I think he's hit his stride now and the last few games he's been phenomenal. His work rate never stops.'

Did The Count do enough on Tuesday to retain his place or will Moyesy put him back on the bench and give Jelly his debut against The Pie Eaters?

Isn't Drenthe banned for 1 match? 5 yellows.

Denis is perfect for Everton at this time, we are not in a position to buy top draw players. We need players who will play to a system, work hard and not be intimidated with teams who have better players. He is a cult in the making, so lets embrace his style, praise his hard work , throwback style of play and god bless the prince of night games at Goodison.

I'd play Peanuts and Donovan on wings, Count and Jelly up front and Screech and Drenthe in the middle. Put. Drenthe in centre let him run at Wigan.

I really hope we get the lad signed up for next season - I want to see what he can do once he reaches full Prem levels of fitness. Imagine the engine he'll have! Workrate + the fitness of a top level athlete = absolute monster! He's shown the ability, desire and work ethic to terrify defences, regardless of their quality. Talent is not something the City squad is lacking, and he schooled them. If we give him the chance, I think we could have a real player on our hands here.

Love the comment from Derek about him playing in the derby - what a name he could make for himself if he gives that shower of sh**e a dose of Denis! He must start tomorrow, he deserves his place from the effort he has put in the last two matches. He put more effort into those two matches than some Billy had put in all season!

Strac has to be the battering ram who scatters defenders for Jeli to nip in behind him for the knock-downs and lay-offs and show us the quality of finishing that got him 30 goals in 45 games! It means two up front - be brave Moyes, be brave!

Start both, 4-4-2, Lets get at the shakey Wigan deefence. I would also start Peanuts, put Drenthe on the bench with Timmy.

Looked like Tim was carrying a knock towards the end of the game on Tues. Stick Jelly and Strac up top. Give the Wiganers something to be worried about!

But can The Count perform during daylight hours? You betcha, let 'em 'ave it Denis lad. I'd love to see him batter than feckin Carragher at Analfield.

The Count has show just what we have missed up front all season - commitment, hard word, dedication and simple willingness. Moyes MANY moons ago promised to select those who were performing and drop those who were not. Shame he has not stuck by that this season as Cahill, Saha, Neville and others would not have played as many games. So now Strac has done so well he MUST keep him in the starting 11 - Nicki can have a place on the bench along with Peanuts.

Outstanding against city, caused massive problems in attack and defended well too, no reason to drop him, jelavic on the bench and 'the count' to start, get your cheque book out again Bill ;)

There is no mystery to why most overseas players do well at Everton! As we all know, Everton is a family club and welcomes all new faces like one of their own! This in its self eliminates any negative pressures of fitting in, and replaces it with a positive pressure “To do well for Boss, Team and the Fans!” Denis’s character fits in well with kind of pressure! Although Drenthe has a lot to work on (we all know them so I won’t mention them) he has been intricate to nearly every goal since his arrival! Drenthe showed us Day 1 where his contribution lies were as Denis is only just now showing us what he’s all about and the signs look promising! Landon seems to have picked up where he left off and hopefully Pienaar will follow suit! One promising sign was when he mentioned nothing had changed since he left the club a year ago! This is the time when we should let ourselves get a little carried away! At least until the end of the season! Although I don’t want to “Count” my chickens an all but I think it’s safe to say we might not go down this season!

Totally agree with Stevie, there were 14 lions out there on Tuesday but for me Denis was the standout top man. What an engine this guy has - Jelly must get in line to beat this dude for a place.

I agree with Steve, Straq has eaned his run, but I would play him in Cahills position, and let him run as the second striker, I think he would be a difficult man to mark and would make himself a lot of space.

Its only fair that straq gets the nod again on saturday against Wigan, based on work rate he deserves to be there, be hard to change the winning team from city as everyone played so well. would try a 4-4-2 personally, with Jelly and Straq upfront, could possibley work?

He was good against city for the type of game we wanted to play against the league leaders. However against wigan we want something with more of a goal threat. Jelly to start with cahill just off him!

Moyes has to start with the team that started against Sitteh - doesn't he?

No way you can drop him. He's probably the strongest and hardest working striker in the prem at the moment. Keep the Strac in attack!!
