Will somebody explain to me why the reluctance to tell us about the Royston Drenthe affair? David Moyes spat his dummy out today's press conference and walked out when a reporter asked him for more details on the Drenthe situation.
Moyesy had already explained earlier in the session that Royston Drenthe had been disciplined and that he would not be in the squad to face Man United.
But why won't he explain the reasons. If he has done something wrong why doesn't he just tell us? It would save him ducking the questions fired at him and maybe it will stop Evertonians questioning his timing of the disciplinary action.
There are many who say he should have been banned after the semi.
What say you?

Drenthe a wasted talent? He's scored a couple of decent goals but he gave the ball away far too often-thinking he was better than he is. Hot head who doesn't know when he's landed on his feet.

Good riddance. We don't need him anymore. We have Peanuts for the run in. What a waste of talent. Great player with shite temperament, hot on Man City's short list....

He was tremendous in the Dutch U-21 tournament a few years back and every club with money, (not us) wanted him. - Real Madrid snagged him for big money, his head was swiftly elevated.
Cocky young (RICH) boy cant get 1st. team regular so gets loand out to Heracles - oh, i am better than all these.
Arrives with us, on loan ok, but his head swings are the same - Nice oone Dave and fuck him off before he poisons the great team spirit here.

In any walk of life and employement if you take the piss your edging towards a fineline of make or break. Hes wasting his talent and if by all accounts he's had warnings and not heeded them , then there's no option. Ive heard rumours re; his wages which is true suggest that realistically we may not have been able to afford him anyway but only rumours.. Still he had something about him as did Terry Curran and a few otehrs and so we muust look on and focus on tomorrow and get in to them and try and win . Peanuts for 1st goal?? Jelli double and Gibson rocket and well we must make up for last weeks 2nd half.. "Whats Our Name?"

I know the reason as my mate is on everton's back room staff... He turned up late for the team meeting the day before the semi-final, really blase. Moyes sent him home straight away.
I personally think it gave moyes an excuse not to play him as there was a big pressure on who was going to play left-wing, and its no secret moyes doesnt trust him on the pitch. Massive shame really because drenthe was exactly what we needed second half against liverpool.

Moyes is a LEGEND.
He obviously has his own way of doing things and it works.
So fuck off haters

Why should Moyes back a player that according to reports had turned up 2 hours late TWICE in the week leading upto the semi ? It totally sends out the wrong signals to the rest of the squad, a squad whose greatest strength is their unity ! Players might get backed 'blindly' across the park but not here. Pack his bags and fuck him off !!
GAZZAROO, Woolton, 2:22 PM 21/04/2012

I say he has pressed the self destruct button. And unfortunately we've probably seen last o him in a blue shirt which is a waste of a potentially very talented player. Next look at Magaye Gueye who hasn't complained once. He acted like he wanted to play at Wembley. It's all about attitude.
John, Huyton, 1:06 PM 21/04/2012

To be honest, Moyes has given his point of view and some texan reporter is trying to wheedle more out of him.
If it is true that he was talking to those mutants then I would not have blamed Moyes if he had decked Drenthe.
Neil, Forest of Dean, 12:53 PM 21/04/2012

Apparently he turned up 2 hours late for training on the monday before the semi. Then they had a team meeting to discuss the semi later in the week that he missed in its entirety again turning up over 2 hours late. Moyes was pissed at the first one. The 2nd he finds unforgivable. Roy will not done the blue shirt again

I suggest you go and buy the great escape dvd's from the Everton 1 or 2 shops.. This is where we lived until 10 years ago.
with NO due respect to the writer of this article, f*%k off and mind your business.
If he is being disciplined then so be it and it will be for a good reason. On top of that, who cares? This guy is a loose cannon, a disturbance.
i'm no fan of how DM sets up the team or the tactics or style we play, but we do'nt sit fighting relegation every season and with him and BK we have stability within the league. do we need investment to progress? yes we do. will we achieve it? no we won't. it is the ill placed passion and loyalty of some fans that prevents this. KEIOC, Blue Union etc etc. get a reality check, nobody will invest in Goodison park and therefore everton, they wouild need another £300m to build a stadium before they even started.
The tesco deal will have been placed on BK's friendships with Green and Leahey at Tesco, we managed to f*$k that up by doing what we always do and dividing ourselves as fans and a club.
i know... let the people running the club... run the club.
remember the green and yellow, love utd hate the glazers crew up the east lancs??? how many tiltes, cups and champs leagues have the glazers achieved...and still some dicks dont want them.
just let peopple do their jobs

One of the reasons I was surprised we signed him in the first place was his track record. As Barry (comment 3) says he was in trouble a lot in the Feyenoord youth team, again at Real Madrid, and when he went on loan to Hercules he came back a week late from their winter break. When you don't have a lot of money to spend, it is even more important that the players toe the line. In the real world if someone keeps not turning up for work without a good reason they lose their job. Why should it be any different for footballers?
Grongy, Salford, 12:29 PM 21/04/2012

He obviously lacks discipline, which is a shame as he's a talented lad..And if what is stated at number 2 is true the FA need to take action against the shite under the 'tapping-up' rules..

It's all over the papers today, he turned up late for training quite a few times. Unprofessional in my view, we need players who are 100% committed to the club. Roy is clearly talented, but seems to be missing something between his ears. Thanks for some good performances Roy, but don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.
JD, Leeds, 12:09 PM 21/04/2012

Drenthe is a loose cannon and we dont need that in our squad. Yes there have been flashes of brilliance but no consistency and a questionable attitude. I am sick of moyes and kenwright getting the blame for everything from certain fans, they have done an extraordinary job on a tight budget. Get behind the team and stop whinging like a load of old fish wives.

Moyes did exactly the right thing .. No player is above the club and Drenthe obviously not taking his role seriously if fails to turn up for training on time without just cause. No commitment? no place in the squad!

Moyes has got it spot on in every way. It's been dealt with. It's nobody else's business and why give the sniping back stabbing, shit stirring media any more ammo to sling at our club! Spot on professionalism from the man. We need to get over the last game and get behind our manager and the team again!

Big Tommy (1), why is it that every single message you post on this site is negative? I'm starting to wonder if you are a red in disguise. BK, I completely agree with posts 2-5. If a player steps out of line he should be dealt with. There are all sorts of good reasons why the details can't be made public. Personally I think Everton is a club which has principles, and which does the right things for the right reasons, with integrity. I'm proud of that.

Drenthe is bad blood from day one, he was bad blood at EVERY level and club he was in. It is in his makeup. Send him packing. As for walking out. Disciplinary problems are internal matter. He said what he think is enough. If it is not enough for hyena reporters then GTFO! It is not like he disciplined Andy van der Meyde. Reasons behind vdM were very clear to fans as player was drunk more times than he played for us. Fans shouldn't know about all dark things going behind the scenes. Simple as that.

Code of conduct and discretion etc its the same verywhere in this age.. Whatever and we wont probably get the facts - does RD deserve a reprive? I sense the message is becoming clearer..A wasted enigmatic talent, but he does have the potential that perhaps we wont see realised now..
El Cid, Offshore, 10:36 PM 20/04/2012

There isn't a first level club anywhere in the world who details why disciplinary action has been taken. Grow up Blue Kipper. You're beginning to sound like Toffeeweb and we all know what whingers they are.

Everton are actually one of the most open clubs in the league. We can't know everthing as fans and we shouldn't know everything.
Steve, Liverpool, 9:37 PM 20/04/2012

If someone has does something wrong they need to be reprimanded immediately. It is ridiculous to suggest Moyes should have waited till after the semi, as it does not send the right signal to the rest of the players. Back the manager not the prima-donna who caused trouble at every club he's been at.
Barry, Liverpool, 9:32 PM 20/04/2012

Him and his agent were caught talking to the shite over a possible move in the summer. The fact it's the shite is bad enough, but in the lead up to the semi just takes the piss - send him packing back to Madrid!!
Phil, Southport, 9:09 PM 20/04/2012

Since when has it been common policy to discuss team discipline decisions to fans? It doesn't need to be brought out. For him to be banned and nowhere near the squad says more than enough that he has done wrong. Moyes has more class than to air it out in public. Any player at the club and any coming in would see Moyes as a whistleblower, losing trust. This much is obvious. It looks like Drenthe has been speaking to Liverpool, with confirmation that he has purchased a house in Hale, about a move in the summer. So too right, get him out, and if you think any less of Moyes for not declaring why, its your problem. He never done it with Jo, Yakubu, Andy van, its not his style. If you want a Warnock or Holloway who would tell you these things, you get a worse manager with less class.
DG, Liverpool, 9:08 PM 20/04/2012

I say that I'm getting seriously pissed off with this club & Moyes. This is not a closed shop or communist state. This club and it's history are founded on trust and it's ability of being open and honest with the people who supposedly count.....us....the fans.Or do we?Does. 'The people's club' count for nothing anymore?
