Drenthe Wants To Play For Feyenoord

After being told to packs his bags and don't come back to Finch Farm again after a couple of breaches of discipline, Royston Drenthe has been spending his time away from Everton giving interviews to the media and has said he now wants to go and play for his hometown club Feyenoord.

Not only that but he has told of his run in with Lionel Messi. Drenthe played against Barcelona for his parent Real Madrid and while on loan at Hercules. A spat which Drenthe said Messi welcomed him with 'hola negro.'

On Messi Drenthe said: 'When Hercules (the team Drenthe spent a year on loan with last season) played Barcelona, during the game I had a small altercation with him. He gave me a hand in the match and again said a few times, "hola negro".

Drenthe said: "I want to do what I like and that's play football. In addition Rotterdam is my city. Feyenoord have not called me yet, but of course I would not mind if they did. Maybe I'll call them myself."

Drenthe just wasn't consistent enough. Moyes gave him enough chances but he wasn't prepared to knuckle down and work hard. Players have to earn a spot in the first team on and off the pitch and he didn't do that. Take the 2-0 defeat to Man City, he gave the ball away cheaply and stopped. No attempt to work hard to at least try make up for his mistake. I could go on but just like Moyes I won't waste my time on this guy! Yes he has explosive pace, he scored 4 goals from midfield which we need more of. But no one is bigger than the club and I am personally glad to see the back of him. IMWT COYB

Mike, Widnes- A team full of yes men? This lad would be on top money and yet he turns up late for training just before an FA cup semi after repeated breaches of discipline. It doesnt matter how good someone is, you cant have people like him around. Would Fergie put up with him? For us to put up with him would be disrespectful to Everton. In a bit Roysten

A shedful of talent and pace. But just proper off his cake whats all that about bringing the messi thing up 2 years later could have been a player for us if he d have knuckled down just too much of a loose cannon can't really see clubs queuing up to take him. Looks like you've pissed on the chips big time Royston Pity really because you might have made a difference in the semi final Good luck from some good riddance from others

What a joke, full of hot air, he could have been something instead trying slurr a great football player, just a shame it drags the proud name of Everton with him when the rags mention he's on loan with us. Moyes got it totally right! IMWT COYB

Unfortunately Moyes would sooner have a team full of yes-men like Osman and Cahill than someone with genuine flair and ability who can change games. He was out of order with what he did, but then again can you blame him for being pissed off, sitting on the bench week in week out while his spot in the team is taken up by Coleman and Gueye?

He's responsible for his own actions. He's a grown man, or supposed to be. Everybody else buckles down to their responsibilities. He's like Gazza, a walking bomb waiting to explode. No matter how good his potential no Prem manager is going to tolerate his misbehaviour. He's a disruptive influence who younger players might be naive enough to try to emulate. On this one Moyes is 100% correct. Drenthe will never learn, that much is obvious. He's had his chance.

Needs a manager like Terry Venables to be able to handle this type of palyer, Moyes was never going to put up with anything so he didnt have a chance its a shame because although i have nothing against Osman, who would you rather have running at defenders?? Not a Moyes type player a bit to lively!!

We don't know the full story but judging by his actions and the way he played (not doing his work for the team defending) it looks like he thinks above everybody else. Can't be the sharpest tool in the shed if he thought Davy would put up with his antics.

Massive, massive shame. This lad genuinely puts the shits up defenders.

So Liverpool wouldn't have him either then! Could have had a big career at Everton and just pissed it up! Pitty! Most of us wanted to like him and Everton is probably the least racist club in the UK so he wouldn't have had any Messi Moments with us!

shame, he couldve been a world beater but hes destined to be one of these players who you'll look back on and wonder what mightve been. i personally think its down to his entourage and hangers on, because when ever you see him on the pitch he does try

Pity but he threw away an opportunity to revive his career. All because he couldn't discipline himself to get up in the morning. Don't know if the drink and partying stories are true or not but what a waste of natural talent. The divvy.

i think you will have to call feyenhoord but don't hold your breathe in the hope of signing for them, you are trouble and it means that you need to change your ways or play the rest of your career for some little known club in holland. there must be something seriously wrong with your attitude as a player of your talent would walk into any top club

He's a half decent player who, with the right help, could have been a great asset..But unfortunately his immature and arrogant attitude does little to help his already over-inflated self-ego, and without some much needed professional guidance all I can see for his future is a lot of unhappiness..

Pity really, when Royston runs into space with the ball at his feet, defenders shit themselves. Tot siens Roy. Dank u well for some entertainment.

Shame it didn't work, but we all suspected this i think with his hot headed nature. However I can't figure why the loan hasn't simply been cancelled, save paying his wages?
