I would love to be a fly on the wall when David Moyes and Bill Kenwright meets in the next couple of weeks. The question that Moyesy will ask will surely be "How much money have we got Bill?"
David Moyes is suggesting we don't need much money to strengthen his squad but it will depend on if there are any departures.
Moyesy said:"I speak with Bill every day but I plan to go down and see him in the next week or two to discuss things. I've got a year to go anyway so it's not as though it's absolutely desperate. We will talk about it in the next week or so.
"I'll just have the conversation with the chairman. We didn't need a great deal of money to change things around in January. With £5m we got Darron Gibson and Jelavic, and we also got Pienaar and Landon in on loan. Without an awful lot we gave ourselves a fighting chance and got Everton back on the rails again. We'd fallen off in the first half of this season. We don't need an awful lot. I just need to know there is a chink of light."
"I don't need reassurances about managing Everton. A lot of people would love the opportunity that I'm in and for me to have been here 10 years is incredible. But I want to be able to compete and I want to be ambitious. I want to give the people something more to shout about than we have done.
"We have tended to pick up from January and been more optimistic and then it has drained away during the summer because we have not been able to keep the fire in everyone's belly. I think that has affected the players as well. We learned we had to get things done early six or seven years ago but if you don't have the money to get things done, what can you do?"
