Everton have confirmed that the former Glasgow Rangers striker has put pen to paper and will join his former Rangers team mate Nikica Jelavic at Goodison Park.

Naismith, who has won 15 caps for his country, will now join up with the rest of the Blues squad when they report for pre-season training at Finch Farm on Thursday.

Moyesy said: 'We are delighted that Steven has agreed to join us. He will be an excellent addition to the players we already have and we look forward to him being fit and ready to play at the start of the season.'

'He is an established international who can play in a number of positions. He has a flexibility we always like in our players and which will hopefully prove to be very useful for us.'

Get in there! Welcome to Goodison Steven.

4th day of the transfer window and we've signed a player what's going on?!!

Carl, Brisbane. I think more likely the replacement for mr Cahill seen as how he's knocking on a bit in football terms and Naismith is a 'flexible'. So we'll probably see the lad on the wing too but on the right me thinks.......

Carl, Brisbane that is a ridiculous thought! He did not intend on bringing Steven Naismith to the club to replace Steven Pienarr. He brought him to the club with the intent on hopefully forming a good striking partnership with Nikica Jelavic!! At 25, I think it's great that we got him ahead of other clubs, as there were quite a few clubs who expressed an interest in Steven Naismith and 2 of those were clubs from Europe. So I think we did well to get him and I think it's an advantage that he has played upfront with Jelavic before. So if he can adapt well to the pace of Premiership football and be consistent in scoring goals like Jelavic has so far, then we could well possibly see a 30-35 goal scoring partnership. It's been a long time since we last had that and I think if that happened again, then it would certainly help us towards getting back into Europe and also getting back to Wembley again in a cup final, but to win this time! Naismith may need time to settle in to the club, but I think if Moyes brings the best out of his game play, then I think he will do well for us!

I think Naismith could well be the REPLACEMENT for Pienaar!?

Versatile international player who had a good partnership with Jelavic, and we have got him on a free. Sounds like a good bit of business. Most Rangers fans posting on this subject seem to be fans which is a good sign too. There are quite a few quality free agents available at the moment. We should try and secure a couple more to add depth to the squad!

Is anyone else worried by Moyes saying 'he can play in a number of positions'? I just hope that he gets the chance to rejoin Jelavic up front, instead of being shoved on the right wing.
