Jose Baxter Leaves Everton

Everton have offered Jose Baxter a new contract, but the 20 year old has decided to leave Everton and is now a free agent.

It was reported that he had signed for Crystal Palace, but although the player would want that move. Nothing has happened yet.

Jose played 15 times for Everton in all competitions without scoring. The Bootle born striker confirmed he had left Everton via twitter after not appearing on the pre-season training camp in Austria.

I agree with Alex @ 19. It's Jose's life and it's up to him to make the most of it. The club gave him the opportunity in the first place when he made his debut at 16 at West Brom and did well. If he hasn't made a breakthrough since then he's probably making the right decision. I wish him well.

Can't believe the bitterness here. He could easily have collected another big pay cheque for 2 more years, but realised he wasnt going to get the games/break into team so moved on. We will still get money for him as he is U-21 and he will hopefully get chance to develop as a footballer. Wise move. Win win and I wish him the best.

Not good enough for our team I'm afraid. Like Blue Liverpool says 'More dead wood off our wage bill'.

Good. We shouldnt have offered him one in the first place. More dead wood off our wage bill. If he was going to be big, or the best up coming talent as some of you say, he would have made it by now. Good Riddance.

Our best up and coming talent and anyone saying anything different is talking through their @rse. I'd have loved him to stay, but I'm not surprised we're unable to hold onto our better younger players. Sad days

A sad state of affairs - Jose was going to be the next best thing and unfortunately didn't happen. I do hope he was given the best pep chat and guidance where he went wrong. Really quite down about this one.

The lads my age and refusing a contract for Everton while I'm working for pennys. If this news was about any other player i wouldn't be able to get my head around it. but with Jose it doesnt surprise me. Moneys gone to his head and this decision will cost him playing at the highest level in his career.

He was never going to make it anyway. I would put money on him slipping down the leagues within the next few years. He will be league 2 at best.

Maybe if he spent a bit less time on the lash in garlands with the rest of the wannabe nomarks from desperate scousewives, and actually concentrated his efforts on being the best footballer he could be he might of been good enough for Everton, as it is he isnt so goodbye!

I asked one of the youth coaches about him a couple of years ago. He said that modern footballers at the top level have to be athletes and Baxter didn't fall into this category. His exit was inevitable. Does anybody think they will miss him? Thought not! See you on The Football League show, Jose lad.

Hopefully the offer was made in the correct way and we won't have another gosling fiasco and will be due some cash from wherever he ends up...

Maybe it was his antics off the pitch that have caused his head to swell anyway he will make a good championship player but not prem class alot of youngsters who break through have potential but most end up having to leave to get game time for me baxter was never going to make it he was too small and too slow this is the danger with youngsters they get a few games and think they have made it.
