With the late cancellation of the Java Cup, Everton may use the reserve team games against Hereford and Tranmere to give the senior players a much needed competitive game.
Already reserve players Aposolos Vellios and Shane Duffy have tweeted that they are going home for a few days, which would indicate that it may happen.
The game at Edgar Street, Hereford is on Saturday, 28th July 2012 (kick-off 3.00pm) and David Moyes may give the likes of Nickica Jelavic, Darron Gibson, Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and John Heitinga a run out after returning late to preseason due to playing in Euro's.
Everton could also use the game against Tranmere Rovers in the Liverpool Senior Cup final at Prenton Park next Tuesday 31st July 2012 (kick-off 7.30pm), in order to build on their pre-season fitness.
Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore said: "I think there's every chance we could be playing an Everton side with first-team strength next Tuesday and that's going to be great for the crowd and great for our lads to test themselves against Premier League players.
"I don't want to jump ahead of myself. It is down to David Moyes which team he plays but I would certainly expect some first-team players to be involved against us."
