Tony Hibbert has vowed that Everton will start this season stronger than in previous campaigns.
Our slow starts are well documented but with the arrival of Steven Naismith from Rangers last month combined Steven Pienaar's re-signing from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week has strengthened the Blues' squad further following the capture of Darron Gibson and Nikica Jelavic in the previous transfer window.
Hibbo celebrates his testimonial on Wednesday and believes this year's additions will ensure that Everton buck the trends of recent history with an improved start.
Hibbo said: 'We don't know why we haven't started quick.'
'It's just one of those things that we've talked about a lot. We've tried to do things differently. We just don't know why we haven't started how we'd like to but hopefully this year we can.'
'I think we've got the players to, we understand more of it now what we should be doing and I think the start of the season we will see a different Everton, and obviously a stronger Everton.'
'We've lost Tim Cahill, that was a big blow to us, but new additions to any squad is ideal and what you need to freshen the place up.'
'Obviously they're only going to come in for the better really so I think it will be good for us this season.'
