Landon Considering Retirement
Bookmark and Share

Landon Donovan is talking of retirement next year!

Landon has admitted that he is considering quitting the game at the end of the 2013 Major League Soccer season.

Loved at Everton, Landon is a national hero back in the USA and is about to achieve another ambition and captain the national side. He has won over 140 caps for caps and has won two national titles since moving to LA Galaxy in 2005 but maybe the end is nigh?

His contract ends and the end of the next MLS season and Landon is considering bringing his illustrious career to an end.

Landon said: 'At the end of this season, I'm going to re-evaluate everything and see how I feel.'

'If I want to keep playing, I'll keep playing. If I don't want to keep playing, I won't keep playing.'

'If I want to go elsewhere, I'll try to make that happen. If I want to stay here, I'll try to make that happen. I don't know the answer to that right now.'

'Why wouldn't I consider retirement? When I was younger, I was motivated by different things. I wanted to score all the time, I wanted to be famous, I wanted to be popular, I wanted to make money.'

'I wanted to do all of those things, but at the end of it all, those things don't do a lot for you.'

Maybe one last swansong in January at Goodison for Landon?

There's only one place for Landon Donovan to end his career. I'm sure he'd regret not spending at least one full season here.

Sorry Roberto London, read it wrong. Never mind. Sack him off, too old by then. Matt Phillips please. Thank you.

'If I want to go elsewhere, I'll try to make that happen. If I want to stay here, I'll try to make that happen. I don't know the answer to that right now.' He is waiting for Everton to make the offer of a perm move - he has sold his house already as reported some time ago........we have some cash - he loves us, we love him......... Land-on- Ahoy!

MLS season ends in October, which would be the end of his contract, would mean he could play from Jan all the way through to the end of the Prem season. Think about it Landon.

I think the MLS has finally worn Landon down. The quality of that league is shit he knows it and we know it. I think he would love to have maybe 1 or 2 years at Everton but we all know we will not pay the cash. It's a shame because he is premier league class. Just hope we don't try and wait for his contract to run down. But apparently Niang is on Merseyside and we are being strongly linked with the guy from Olympiakos. Even though Rodwell has been flogged we are showing some initiative in the transfer market. This WILL be a good season for us. COYB.

I'd like to see him give it a last go with us if it can be arranged. I wouldn't expect too much from him if it does come off, he'll be mentally switched off ready for retirement. We need hungry players.
