More Leighton Baines
Everton are bracing themselves for a bid for Leighton Baines from Man Utd. Or are they?
United know that they are short in the left back area and Sir Whiskey Nose (SWN) hinted at the van Persie circus conference that there would be no more signings unless "a certain player became available in one more position".
Now everybody thinks he could be talking about Bainsey and they are probably right. But the important word in that statement is available.
Jack Rodwell went because David Moyes made him available. Do you think for one minute that David Moyes will make Leighton Baines available for transfer? Not a chance.

Mace, mike, Steve and Frank just watching a re run of last nites great victory, even the commentator just said Baines is a lifelong red. Sayin that its that prick Alan parry

Happy to lose Rodwell as long as we keep Baines. Don't think Moyes would sanction this one if he still has any ambition with us. I think he''s having a punt at the chamions league this year and won't allow the best to leave.

Whiskey nose has got a left back having a medical tomorrow (Alexander Buttner from Vitesse) so hopefully we can all relax a little bit.

Can't see it happening this season. He wants and needs to be playing in every game. Hopefully we will be able to achieve something this season to keep him.

Fergie mind games again. Baines will not go there. He loves it at Everton. Paul childwall - Baines is a blue and always has been. I use to work with his best mate from school. He told me Baines was joining us 6 months before he did.

Selling Bainsey would make the whole Pienaar chase pointless.
Case closed. Well, not if they offer £30m...

He deserves to win at least one title in his career, he's arguably the best left back in the league so it would be a shame if he retired without one. Saying that he has maybe 6 or 7 years playing at this level and it doesn't appear like he's pushing for a move. I'd love to keep him till he retires but I can't see that as an option so getting a few more years out of him then letting him move on to someone like United seems like the best deal for us. If he does really want to leave I'd rather him go to them because they've always gave us a fair deal since Moyes has been in charge but I hope that he doesn't leave because he's just unbelievable.

@Paul Childwall.(to comment 9) In July 2007 Baines rejected a move to Sunderland, after their bid of £6 million was accepted by Wigan. So that kind a blows your comment out the water about the player having no power over the situation. Baines is TRUE BLUE. And will only go if the club need the money. He is now to us what Gerrard was to the shite all them years ago when he used to be good. Ironic that they're completely paralysed from the left downwards now. BTW if you check Baines's wiki page, he worries all the time about getting benched which doesn't help Man U's cause in the slightest. You want to worry about players leaving? Worry about Johnny!

Our best players have only left if they wanted to leave and asked to leave i.e. Rooney, Lescott, Arteta, or Moyes has decided they are surplus to requirements, i.e. Jack Rodwell. I do not believe Baines will leave, I think he can see we are close to something special this season. Also with two years to the world cup he will want regular first team football to prove to Hodgson he is the best left back in the world.

Ask mr swn to stick his money where his mouth is? Its all a loada crap. if it was serious there'd be an offer on the table. None of this crap...

Eld Whiskey Nose hasn't even said it's Bainesy he's after, just that they need to strengthen in one area (which I would presume is midfield btw) and Dave from Town, you've taken that a bit out of context haven't you, trying to start a little ally oops on here? Baines said he was flattered to be linked with united (as any footballer in the world would be).....BUT that he already plays for a big club and is happy......all blues should be enjoying this transfer window for once, we're linked with quite a few genuine players and only a scattering of OLD rumours about players leaving, even Moyesy has said he's getting a couple more in............and anyway Bainesy can leave now cause we've got hibbo to take free kicks from now on WAHEY (last bits a joke before the crazies get on me back)

The sooner the window shuts the sooner the negative nellies and worriers can move onto worrying who we'll lose in the January window. Baines is going nowhere. Settle down.

Paul, I know Pienaar's coming back must have give him some heart and the Champions League places aren't so assured anymore so there's a chance EFC can grab a place, look at the current squad we have! some top quality player's in there and I don't think Moyes will want him to go so I genuinely don't think this is a goer just an unsettling remark made by Whiskey Nose to get at Baines and Everton.
Mace, Everton, 7:48 PM 18/08/2012

Mace. I'm not contrived. Just an honest blue your point by the way I'm reading it is he's a blue so he won't go. We have seen all our best players leave in Bill's reign as chairman so I hope not but baines might still go.
Paul, Childwall, 7:36 PM 18/08/2012

Paul Childwall - stop talking out your arse, baines always has been a blue, you are the type of negative crap we don't want to listen too.
Stevo, Warrington, 7:25 PM 18/08/2012

Paul your just a contrived Blue who looks at everything in a negative way, I'm surprised you didn't start pointing out "facts"!
What does Rooney and Jeffer's have to do with this article??!!

Yes, Baines was a red. Whatever the outcome, thus far Baines has behaved impeccably. Really hope we repel the advances as we are on the cusp of putting together a strong, fairly young team that will firslly be the strongest team in the city then keep pushing for European places. Ferguson likes to sow seeds early but this time I feel we're in a position to refuse. Finally, if we do keep Baines, Felli et al, then Bill should take some credit. I've knocked him when I felt it right so fairs fair.
Our Everton, we don't choose, we inherit. Fathers to sons. As it should be, kept real.

It annoys me the way people are constantly going on about how much a player is worth. A player is only worth the amount of money that another club is willing to pay for them and the amount that the parent club are willing to sell for.
Ste, Huyton, 5:55 PM 18/08/2012

Mace sorry to disappoint Baines grew up a red. Rooney Jeffers grew up mad blues so your reason doesn't mean jacks--t. If a big club comes knocking any of our players will be off. GET REAL

Best Left back in the Premier League. The Premier League is the best league in the word, therefore best left back in the world o.O
Alex is going to fork over £20M+ worth of Wrigley's Extra before Moyes bats an eye lid...
Even then I'd rather him stay.

Doesnt matter what Davie does if Bainsey wants to go he will go - it wasnt that long ago he was stating how "flattered" he was at being linked with utd which didnt bode well but If he stays it will be our "signing" of the summer!!
Dave, Town, 3:02 PM 18/08/2012

Sir whiskey nose better get his cheque book out then if he even thinks he will get Bainsey on the cheap!!! He's been the best LB in the prem for the past 3 years!! If Rodwell went for £15 mil then Bainsey has gotta be worth double that!!
Moyes'y stand firm and keep him!! COYB IMWT!!!

I can't help but think SWN said that to try and turn Bainesys head, I know how the prick works.
Archie, Chester, 2:26 PM 18/08/2012

If he can spend £20m+ on 29year old who was alright for a season!!
Then for the best arguably left backs in the prem for the last few seasons who is 27 then £30m+ so we can get 2 left backs would be the least I would accept!!
Paul Horne, Sunny Runcorn, 2:05 PM 18/08/2012

No Chance!! I'm confident of that, Bainsey is a Blue and grew up as one too, not the type that will get an offer to play for liverpool and then go but one that will wait patiently to play for the club he genuinely supports and now loves to play for!
Why would he go?
He's guaranteed first team football at EFC,
and there's a great chance were going to be in Europe next season and look to push on in the Cup competitions, So SAF can wait all he like and I'd like to add that he's playing a mind game with Baines and trying to influence the game on Monday!
Gutter tactics the like of which you would expect from the dark side.
I don't like seeing Man U and liverpool win!
I love to see Everton doing better than both and having our player's linked to their clubs Galls the hell out of me! Everton can beat anyone and to think anything else is absolutely pathetic!!
COYBB!!!

The whiskey tester knows that Moyes is not interested. This is just his standard pre-match winding up of the opposition hoping that it will have an effect on the player and his team mates wondering if he might want to move.
