Victor Needs To Believe

There were plenty of arguments when Sausage decided to give Victor a seven for the game against Swansea. He said he'll give a higher score when he plays well for a couple of games not just one and a half.

I could see where he was coming from but surely this is the time to give Victor a bit of credit. He was a handful for the Swansea defenders and he now must have the confidence to go on a five game run and stamp his authority on the team.

We had Leighton Baines talking him up before the game and now we have the boss geeing him on after the game. You just have to keep it going Vic to convince some Evertonians.

Are you a Victor fan?

David Moyes said: 'We've been telling Victor Anichebe for years he's capable he needs to have a little bit more self-confidence and self-belief. He's getting some goals and if he starts believing in himself he'll score more he could have maybe had two or three today.'

'He's doing a good job, he's a good player and if he concentrates he's got a good future

What you need when players do go out are players to step in and do the job and Victor Anichebe stepped in and if you keep playing like that then you're a threat in every game.'

'The supporters will soon get behind him if his performances continue to be like that.'

Sausage, sorry pal but you're full of sh!* on that one. What's the point in Match Scores if you just give players what you want based upon the last few years?

The lad is playing his best football since breaking into the squad 7 years ago. He's maturing well, looks powerful, pacy and Im sure the finishing will be even better with the confidence he must be gaining at the mo'. Instead of moaning hes not good enough get behind the lad. Bet ya Brenda would kill for him right now with the S***e they have up top....

The lad is a scouser an I would rather have a team of scousers giving their all in Blue any day. I liked his play when he first broke into the team but it is only now that he is starting to come out of his shell properly and his performances are getting better. He is definitely an asset to the squad and I think he can improve his game even further. So lets get behind him when he needs it. Still think him and Felli need to work on their finishing as a slight neg point from the weekend is that they should have had hat-tricks each. And look at how important goal difference was last year.

Why are people slagging him off now? He scored some important goals last season off the bench and was immense at the weekend and had a good game against Newcastle, give the lad some credit, he looks like he gives a shit this season, bet the people slagging him off are the same 'Moyes out' idiots

I'll admit it. I've been saying he's shit for about 5 years. I said I don't know what Moyes sees in him. When Beckford came, I said he wasn't good enough for us, but done ok for a freebie, and scored 10 goals. He also missed a load of sitters, but I still said that he should play before Anichebe, because at least he was there to miss them. I said Anichebe had no goalscorers instinct. I'm not taking it all back yet, but I would gladly take it back if he continues to impress. He was extremely useful at the back end of last season as an "impact sub". So far this season he's done quite well. Newcastle couldn't live with him and his goal was excellent. His performance against Swansea was very good and he could have had a goal or two more on another day. Maybe he did just need a kick up the arse. Moyes has seen fit to keep him at the club for all this time, so whatever he sees in him may become apparent to us all over the next few months. I sincerely hope Moyes is right and I was wrong.

About time he unleased the beast! Finally, he's showing signs of turning into the centre forward that will have defenders shitting egg rolls. Moysey stood by him for a reason!!!

Ok this is my third attempt to criticise sausage deciding a match rating on whether they played good in multiple games before the actual match on this page. I believe i am being censored, without being nasty or saying bad language. I thought this was a fans page not Natsi satis nisa optimum.

I've always been anti-Victor. Thought he was a bag of shite to be honest. I'm hoping to be proved wrong now he's in the team. He's been a beast the last 2 games. C'mon lad, show us you can do the business.

Playing up top is now is about guile, cunning and an eye for goal.Victor is more akin to a different era of centre forward, defenders now make strikers work the opposing front man due to the speed and fitness when moving the ball around at the back. Victor has been a lethargic first line of defence, he does not press enough for me and makes time for the opposition to distribute and build from there. His demeanour for me has the unwanted traits of a Balotelli with a sullen, indifferent persona who's not particularly enjoying his pitch time. As much as he's scored two in two, he needs to eradicate the wastefulness that still blights his game, otherwise the inevitable next club dawns.

Bit stupid of 'Sausage' that. If a player earns a high score then he should get it whatever happened before in other games. Sounds like 'Sausage' is too far up the arse of his own prejudices.

@ number 7, are you a kopite in disguise? You don't have a good word to say about any of our players. Sure, I've had a go at Anichebe in the past but thats all down to his ATTITUDE. If he puts in the graft every week and stops moaning he can do the biz. Get off the lad's back for a while and let's see what he can do.

Vic IS capable based on ability and now is his time to show he can apply himself. I feel that a lot of Evertonians are forgetting the extent of his injuries (not based him being fragile) and I chose the two footed lunge by Kevin Nolan as an example. He was given bit part opportunity when still very young and underdeveloped. This season (providing he stays fit) will be decisive for him and we should give him the season before passing judgement! COYB and Big Vic!!!

Last season I wrote off Big Vic as a useless carthorse but his last two games have been a revelation. Keep it going Vic, you can do it.

First man to a hatrick against Leeds, between him and Kev... I have always liked him since we went to Europe, him and Vaughny... Thought both would be around for a few seasons and do well. I think he is starting to grasp the reality now. Get your head down work hard and pull your socks up! Now the final touch is take your chances when you get them... A great striker doesnt give a sh-t when he misses because he knows he will score the next one. Just ask Jelly..

What a completely hypocritical comment to come out with! "I love Everton but when Vic scored I went, f**k, why him?" Why not him is the question! It baffles me to work out what he has done wrong to provoke such disdain from some Everton fans. First things first, he's been a better a player and given us much more than some strikers in our recent years.....so why expect so much? Contrary to what some say, he hasn't had a genuine run in the team whether it be due to injury or managerial preference. Once again he is only getting a sniff because of other injuries and again he's trying to prove his worth. He's still a young lad who in all honesty is allowed to feel hard done by and frustrated if he wants to....he still has plenty of time to learn patience and maturity. The FACT is he is taking his chance by scoring goals. What more can you ask of a striker? Us Evertonians would have bit someone's hand off for a striker who could score 1 in 5 chances but when its BIg Vic missing a couple the 'Lamb Bast' comes out! Fuck me, the best strikers in the league are missng them at the moment, but most importantly he is getting into those precious goal scoring positions in the fist place. With the dramatically improved service we could see the re-birth of a genuine goal scoring predator. I'm behind the kid, and so should we all be! COYB!

Moyes said about Vic "maybe had two or three today" Fact is, he didn't. The chances he missed against The Swans and a few against N'castle were shocking. I love Everton but when Vic scored i went, f**k, why him? He is not a striker. I will give him credit, he gives his all but he is not good enough. Like Neville playing the holding position, Vic as a striker is not good enough and i can't understand why Moyes persists with him (them). Yes he has scored twice in 2 games but when Jelly comes back, Vic will be a 'bit part player'. Sell him on and bring in some proper competition for Jelly. He is not good enough to be classed as an Everton 'striker'. As for Neville, brilliant servant but too negative. Not good enough in the middle. He can tackle but can't see a pass, Osman can see a pass but cant tackle. With Gibson injured we seriously need a replacement in the middle. Anyhow, COYB IMWT!

I would never bring down an Everton player, but Vic is soul destroying sometimes to watch. Vic came on against NUFC and looked lost at times with Kev waving his arms at him telling him to come on, and again today peanuts did the same telling him to move forward. I do hope he gets a good run in the team so we can see if he can really make it or not! Come on Big Vic!!!!

If he continues to develop it looks like Moyes will once again been proved right. He could easily of shipped him a couple of years ago when when he threw his teddy out the cot. Anichebe has got a lot to thank Moyes for because if he had gone, he would not of got the nurturing he needed and would probably now be a journey man languishing in the lower leagues.

Big Victor finally seems to be found the right attitude and is maybe one of these players who takes time to mature, he is at last showing the form which is rewarding Moyesy for the faith and loyalty he has shown the lad when at times it could have been easier to show him the door for a couple of mill. His workrate has been first class and he has proved to be a handful for any defence in his current form---Keep it up Vic!

Vic is an Evertonian who plays for Everton. Some comments I hear about him by fellow Evertonians should only be used against opposition players. Give Vic your full support as Evertonians please and perhaps we might see some more of his undoubted massive potential unleashed on more teams.

i think Vic has the confidence and ability to nail down a regular place. It is only now that he has started to grasp that neither he or anybody else has a supreme RIGHT to a first team place, that has to be earned week in and week out, both on matchday and the training ground. Somewhere in there is a 20 goal a season man just waiting to be unleashed
