On this day in 1963 League Champions Everton played FA Cup winners Manchester United in the Charity Shield at Goodison Park.

Everton lifted the trophy winning 4-0 with goals from Jimmy Gabriel, Denis Stevens, Derek Temple & Roy Vernon.
