On this day in 2009 Everton played SK Sigma Olomouc in the 1st Leg of the Qualifying Play Off Round in the Europa League at Goodison Park. This was 5 days after being embarrassed by Arsenal at home on the opening day of the season with a 6-1 defeat!
Everton's response was perfect, a 4-0 win over the Czech Republic side with goals from King Louis Saha (2) and Jack Rodwell (2), one of Jack's goals was particularly special, a 25 yard thunderbolt into the Street End and will be remembered for many a year.
Jack will remember the night too, he made his full European debut and became Everton's youngest ever European goalscorer.
