On this day in 1984, the first game of the season saw Everton parade the FA Cup and the Charity Shield at Goodison.

The occasion was the opening day of the 1984/85 season against Spurs. Howard Kendall's side got their season off to a dream start when Adrian Heath gave Everton the lead, but Spurs hit back with 4 goals.


Little did we know, Everton would go on to win the league and the European Cup Winners Cup that season.
