On this day in 1950, Everton left back Mike Pejic was born in Chesterton, Staffordshire.

Pej was Gordon Lee's first signing as Everton manager when he paid Stoke £150,000 for the 27-year-old's services in Feb 1977..

Mike was a hard lad with a cultured left foot and he formed a great understanding with left winger Dave Thomas.

After suffering from pelvic problems he was sold to Aston Villa for £250,000 in July 1979.

During his Everton career he made 93 appearances and scored 2 goals.
