On this day back in 1994 Peter Johnson took control of Everton Football Club.
The highlight of his reign was the FA Cup Final win against the Mancs in 1995, but it soon became clear to all Blues fans that the man was not right for Everton Football Club.
He still had a controlling stake in our Merseyside neighbours Tranmere and some crazy deals were done at his behest most disturbingly paying £3m for a goalkeeper from two divisions below from 'his other club'.
The fans wanted him out and thankfully in 1998 he resigned from the club after one of the darkest periods in our history.

A truly bad chairman! Joe Royle had got us out of relegation, that we were facing when he first came, then won us the F.A. Cup and Charity shield and then in the next season we were in Europe. And then just because we didn't have a good 1996-1997 season, Johnson refuses to let Joe Royle sign Tore Andre Flo in the summer transfer window. Tore Andre Flo was a great player at the time and the kind of player we needed to sign. After all Joe Royle had done for this club and trying to bring more success, he gets poorly treated by Johnson. Unfortunately because of that brainless idiot, we will never know what other success we may have achieved if Joe Royle would have remained Everton. Joe Royle is one of the best players and managers we ever had. A true legend in his own right!
