As a blue living in the north-east i went into a betting shop and tried to put a double on the first was i asked a price for Bob's 30 goals he the geordie gave me 100/1 and i then asked for a price for newcastle to be relegated and he laughed and so did people around me and he refused to give me one i should have held my ground but i put a fiver on Bob and walked out ....newcastle went down ...Phil

I was at the match as a 16 year old and it was one of the best days of my life.Still a season ticket holder taking my 2 boys along with me.Just to correct you,i am sure it was the Daily Express that offered the money.

I was lucky enough to be there on the day. As Bob was my hero (still is !), it was all too much for me , and I ran on the pitch to conrgatulate him. As the true gentleman that he is, I muttered well done, or something , to him, and he thanked me !! Just avoided getting thrown out, but our kid gave me a clip round the ear when I got back to me spec' ! A LEGEND.

I was there on that day,the 30th goal was a penalty and Bonetti was nowhere near it,if he had it would have took his hands off.I've never heard a roar like it since and I've to every game since. It was the Express that offered the prize and it had to go a charity.I remember Mickey Droy idin't know where he was cos the Latch ran him ragged all day.
