Everton Make A Bid For Rangers Striker
Bookmark and Share

Blue Kipper reported in December that Everton were looking at the possiblity of signing Glasgow Rangers striker, Nikica Jelovic.

The 26 year old Croatian International was subject to a bid from West Ham believed to be in the region £5m during the week which was rejected.

Cash strapped Rangers are believed to be looking for between £7m-£9m and then they may sell. Everton are looking at the possibility of getting the dosh together to make that bid.

If it does come about David Moyes will have a ready made striker who has scored 40 in 93 games for Rapid Vienna and 36 goals in 55 games for Rangers.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist understandably doesnt want to sell his prized striker, but Nik (to his mates) was missing from the 4-0 win over Hibs yesterday with an illness. Now there's a coincidence.

McCoist said: "There's not just life beyond Nikica, there's life beyond us all.

"There are bigger players who have left this club and the club always goes on. That's the most important thing because the club is the most important thing.

"Nikica, if he went, would be a big loss. He's a fantastic player and he has been a great talent here."

just looking back on these comments makes interesting reading general opinion seems to be he wouldn't be able to do it in the prem! anyone care to think again! seems to be fitting in very nicely. lets hope we can get a couple of players in this summer and get off to a good start and who knows what next year will bring.cue all the doom mongers with 'were's the money coming from' and 'bk will let us down' and 'sack the board'

Don't think he will do well in the premier league. Good goalscoring record in the SPL and Austrian league but only 2 good teams in both leagues. Look at his international record 17 games and 2 goals, poor. I would like to see Lucas barrios heard fulham are after him though.

I personally think Junior Hoilett would be a better option. Not that I don't think Jelavic is good, in fact I think he has the potential to make a real difference, but I think with hoilett being that sort of "playmaker" striker with a lot of pace, he seems to be more what we need. And Blackburn will accept a cut price bid since his contract is about to expire.

I'm not too sure about this one, if it happens then hopefully we have a goalscorer to transfer his ability from the Scottish league to ours as that is what we need!...But, if any of you want to know my opinions I'd rather try to get Landon permanently and I have explained that idea on the newest article about him. Cash down to LA, deal in place, after so many years half price buy-back if he wants to go and see his career out there. Simples :p

Looks sharp to me. Maybe Davy Weir will point him in our direction!

@ Fen from Comment 10. Yes I too have been a bit sceptic on strikers and their goal scoring records but is there anything else we can judge them on? We can hire the best striker around but if he can't work in the 4-5-1 (7-1-1 to you and me) formation then nothing short of Messi (no size joke intended) will do the trick!

Why all the 'where's the money coming from' comments! Who said we had 'NO' money - just sold billy, not long sold yak, arteta, yobo, etc so will have some if not much money left from that and I'm sure blue bill does put his hand in his pocket occasionaly ( even if his pockets areshallow ) why not a bit of positivity:- Good rumour - obviously knows where the onion sack is - let's hope he can keep it up for us if he comes! COYB.

Yes get him in there's loads of the boring shouts that we haven't got that money to lose! So what then just sit on it and not even try to get some fresh legs in who by the way has a knack of finding the net! Ok not in the prem but not yet! It is absolutely maddening to hear some of the negative comments made on other blue nose sites, the ones were your meant to do what with the money you have to spend? put it in the Bank?? when we need a striker! and a creative midfielder!! yeah get him in Louis is not getting younger quality though he is and the other lads are too young, Strac's may come good but we need to be lining them up especially with experience and confidence!! Arteta did it for us!!

This isn't just another BK rumour fellas, this is SkySports News stuff. We've made an official bid for the guy! Where we've got the money for this guy, God only knows, but we have! And by the looks of the SkySports site, it's either gonna be Jelavic or Kevin Doyle from Wolves..and i think we'd all be in agreement as to whom we'd prefer....

My mate who is a Rangers season ticket holder ( no not made up ) says this deal looks like it's happening and McFadden may be used as part of the deal. As for Jelavic, Yes he has a great record up here in Scotland but so did Kris Boyd & look how he got on at Boro & Forrest. Same can be said for Scott Mcdonald who also went to Boro and struggled. He's definatly NOT worth the said 7 million that Rangers want. Anyways there meant to be in BIG trouble with the taxman so they should expect a lot less.

Money received for Arteta, Beckford, Yak and Billy totals in the region of 15 - 16 million. And Moyesey was at the last old firm game in December!

Seen him on th tv. matches recently, hearing good stuff about him and he certainly never shone. David and his team obviously know if they want to splash out but, oh i did not see anything in him. First touch was a tackle, if you get my drift.

Always dubious about a players goal scoring record from north of the border, but by all accounts this lad is the shiz. I'm gonna have to be that person though and ask, how can we afford him?

Saha and Mcfadden out, keep Denis! Too early to say if he will make it in the Premier League, cuz he's been playing at Championship level in Scotland, but we have to give him a chance as as goals scored record is crap this season!

"Cash strapped Rangers are believed to be looking for between £7m-£9m and then they may sell" Cash strapped Everton haven't got £7.00 - £9.00 so why is this rumour even getting one bluekipper let alone the 5??! Never going to happen! COYB

Sorry Steve but hardly world class leagues are they? Scotland and Austria? Hardly top quality to score four against the likes of Falkirk and Aberdeen. Not that they will get the money together for him anyway. Rangers turned down an offer of 6 million from West Ham, considering we only got around 3 for Bily were is the rest coming from?
