Doyle Missed Out On Move To Big Club Everton
Bookmark and Share

Everton went for Kevin Doyle of Wolves in the transfer window and apparently had two bids knocked back, as Mick McCarthy didnt want to sell.

Doyle's team-mate Stephen Ward revealed that the Wolves centre forward was the ultimate professional to concentrate on Wolves although he was dissappointed not to move to a big club. Doyle scored the winner against QPR on Saturday.

Stephen Ward said: "I was delighted for him. It has been tough for Doyler but he is the ultimate professional."

"He is not the kind of person to mope around and he has worked really hard in training.

"When a club like Everton, who are safe in the division and a big club come in you would be surprised if it didn't affect him but the bid changed nothing.

"It is great to have players like him in the squad."

Will Everton go back for Doyler in the Summer? What do you think? Add you comment below.

I can't see how he will improve our squad, we have a similar player in Anichebe. I would rather spend the money on Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield as he has fantastic potential and has a knack of finding the net week in week out which is the type of striker we need

Well that proves I don't listen to my Wolves mates! OK he scored plenty of goals for Reading. Also the fact that all of his Wolves goals have been in the Premiership proves he can score regularly at the highest level given the service.

Yes, I'd have had him, and still would now, he may not be a prolific goalscorer but he works his socks off every game, and isn't that what blues want? If we got him, Jelavic may be the goalscorer, and Doyle the worker? I for one would welcome him to Goodison.

Doyle will only get 10 goals a season max. Definately not the player we need. We need a striker that gets us 20+ and Jelavic well may be that person, so not getting Doyle was lucky.

Doyle - a waste of space????? Are we talking about the same player? Some wolves fans have criticised his scoring record of late but all of them acknowledge he almost single handedly got them promoted. I think he is a terrific player, huge workrate and a real handful for any defender. In a good side, he would score plenty. I would take him every time

Lets hope so. I like Doyle he could replace Cahill who is having a bad time of it of late.

Good, dodged a bullet there, he's a shite waste of space with a goalscoring records worse than Saha's

Good! I'd rather have Jelavic. This guy was only good at Reading. I would have taken him 3-4 years ago, but not now.
