Blessing In Disguise No not for being knocked out of the FA Cup, but it is a blessing in disguise for Stubbsey that his he will have time to recover, from his injury, for the Southamton game. He doesn't want to miss any game because if he does it can take time to get your shirt back. Alan said: "You don't want to be out of this team at any time so I've probably been fortunate to get this knock at the start of a blank fortnight. As it is I've got severe bruising and may have tweaked a ligament but apart from that I'm fine. I've already done a bit of jogging and hopefully I'll be back in training by Monday."(14/02/03) No Break Stubbsy has spoken of his relief following being carried off last weekend at Charlton and he gives himself a good chance of being fit for our next game against The Saints on 22nd. Feb. He will be desperate to make the team because he knows if Joey gets back in it will be difficult to shift him. Stubbsy said: " I couldn’t even feel it, so I thought that I’d definitely broken it, so I was delighted when the x-rays came through and they were all clear. It’s badly bruised and I’ve strained a ligament, so it won’t be too long before I’m back. 'My ankle went numb for about 40 minutes after the initial impact. That’s why I thought that it was worse than it actually was. I didn’t think I’d be able to walk as well as I am today after the challenge." (12/02/03) It didn't look too good when Stubbsey was carried off on Saturday. But thank God x-rays have revealed his ankle has no break only bruising. Mick Rathbone said: “Alan had x-rays this morning and thankfully there is no sign of a fracture, so it is just bad bruising. We have no fixture for two weeks so there is a reasonable chance that he could actually be available for the next game.”(09/02/03) Now Then Nosey! Stubbsey has had his good looks (what good lucks?) knocked out of him on Sunday when he sustained a bloody nose. Bas Rathbone says: “I’ve never seen a nose bleed as much as much as that. It was touch and go at one stage whether he could continue.” Stubbsey looked fantastic with two rolls of bog roll hanging from his konk. (14/01/03) We Are Up For It For my money Stubbsey was close to M.O.M for the Blackburn game. He caught the kitchen sink a few times in the 2nd half when Blackburn were going for it. Stubbsey is happy that the team are really sticking together when the pressure is on. He said: “It was a tense finish, but it wasn’t the prettiest of games today, but we showed that we’ve got what it takes to grind results out.”(16/12/02) Wants To Continue Alan Stubbs will hope an injury picked up against Charlton will not keep him out of the Blackburn game. He knows that Davy Weir's suspension has let him in and he has grabbed his chance with both hands. He has played well in the last four games and he wants that to continue. Stubbsey said:"Confidence is high. I'm happy with the way things are going for me at the moment. I have to keep it at that level because there are players knocking on the door trying to get into the team. Competition for places is good at the moment. Everyone is looking over their shoulders because they know if they do have a couple of indifferent performances there's a good chance someone else will come in." (13/11/02) Big Chance Stubbsey says: “David’s suspension gives me a chance. All I can do is go out there and play well. It’s up to the manager then to make the decision and that’s how simple it is. We’ll just have to wait and see, but it’s all about getting a result on Sunday. We played well there last year and we came away with nothing. We deserved to get something out of the game and only a deflected goal gave them the points. We’re going there with a lot of confidence and hopefully we can come away with the points.”
