Alessandro Pistone

Pisto

Full Season Ahead

Pisto wants what we all want and that is for him to play a full season with no injuries. The defence look better with him in it and it must be seen as a significant that he was in at left back against Rangers for the full 90.

Pisto said:"I just want to finally have a season without any injuries and play as many games as I can. I think if that happens then I have a chance. There are many, many games and the gaffer has told us that if we play well then we will keep our place in the side. There is competition for places here now and that is normal. Last season was a very competitive season at the club, so I think this one will be the same. We are preparing ourselves in a good way for the start of the new campaign. We are working hard each day and have been involved in some tough games over the past couple of weeks.

Fulham Bound

David Moyes confirmed that Sandro has a great chance to play against Fulham on Saturday.

He said:"It certainly puts him back into the squad for the weekend, so long as there is no reaction over the next day or two."(30/04/03)

Pisto Plays Full 90

What a pleasant surprise to see Sandro play a full 90 against the shite last night in the mini derby. He put in a tremendous performance and he must have every chance of making the Fulham game on Saturday.(29/04/03)

Op went well

Pisto will return to Bellfield soon. But a return to action this season is unlikely.

Moyesy said: "Alessandro’s had his operation and hopefully everything’s gone well with that.It will take a week or so to settle down and we’ll look at it from there.”(26/03/03)

Out For Season!

If you thought Pisto had gone off the boil recently and were bamboozled by his ommission yesterday & hibbo's surprise comeback, now we know why. He is to undergo a hernia operation next week which will keep him out for the rest of the season. He's played a big part in the Moyesy revival and at last we have seen the best of him, let's hope this clears up his continuous injury problems and we see him fully fit and raring to go next season. (16/03/2003)

Keep Fit

Pisto has been outstanding since he got back into the team. He picked up his first Blue Kipper Star Man Award of the season against Sunderland last month. We all know he has the ability to become a top class player, but he needs to show a bit of good old fashioned British grit, as apposed to the 'Foreign Johnnie I'm injured stuff.' Talking to Newcastle fans about him. They said we'd got a good player, but "you'll be lucky to get 20 games a season out of him, Pet". A point the manager of The People's Club has picked up on.

Moyesy says: "Since he came back into the side four games ago Sandro has done very well. Now he needs to produce this kind of form consistently. He needs to get himself known as the talented player he undoubtedly is. He has to be reliable and available for selection every week so that he can improve with games and improve with the training we give him as well. He's got so much natural talent. He's got pace, strength, gets forward well and can use the ball well with both feet. Now he needs to become a player who gets the games under his belt. It would be better to judge him after 20 games rather than just a few but there's no doubt he's a good all-round defender. He can play anywhere across the back line, which gives me great options, but the bottom line is he needs to keep himself fit. There is a lot of competition for places at the moment and you don't want to drop out of the team too quickly once you're in." Footnote: Would you believe it Sandro is doubtful for Saturday. Class Act

Pisto had an absolute stormer against Sunderland and deserved the BK Star Man award. His defensive display was awesome and some of the crosses he was throwing over from the right were blob on. Will he keep his place when Hibbo comes back? Maybe not at right back but left back. He now has got to keep himself fit and keep putting good performances in.

Pisto said recently: ”I am doing my best.“The only thing I can do is give the gaffer a hard decision to make. That’s all I can do, give a hundred percent.” (22/01/03)

Sandro Shines on His Return

Pisto had a stormer of a game against the shite. In fact he was a lot of supporters Star Man. He was sound in the tackle, his distribution was great, won loads of headers, & showed the kopites a few tricks in the second half, & as Moyesy pointed out, he must make himself available for selection consistently. His performance must have worried Unsey watching in the stands.

Sandro says: "I’m happy because it’s been a long time since I’ve played in my position and it was the first full game I’ve played in the league this season. I’m happy with my own performance but also with the result. It was a great game to come back into the side for. To keep a clean sheet at Anfield is a terrific result and we played well. I think a draw was a fair result, because we both had chances. I was so happy before the game when I knew I was playing in the derby. I know it’s a very, very important game - a game that the fans are crazy about and I was glad to be a part of it, I enjoy playing in them.” (24/12/02)

Focussed

Like most of the lads Pisto has got to be patient. But he fit and raring to go when called on. It may not be long before he gets his chance.

Pisto said: "I am fully fit now and it is up to the gaffer," he said "but while the team keeps winning you can't argue with his selections. Everybody is playing well and we are doing it every Saturday so at the end of the day you can't say anything. You have to keep going, wait - and I am sure my moment will arrive. The only thing I can do is work hard, keep my head and stay focussed." (30/11/02)

His Chance To Impress

David Moyes will be watching tonights game with a special eye on Pisto. He obviously rates him, he just wants to know if he is up to it or not.

Moyesey said: "He played in a practice match behind closed doors the Tuesday before the season started, then we trained at Goodison Park on the Thursday. We were just about to finish when Alessandro pulled his hamstring, otherwise he would have been in contention for a place on the first day of the season. I want modern players who are robust. Injuries are part and parcel of football, but I want players who really want to get out there and be involved. This is Alessandro's chance. What he needs is to get games in.(15/10/02)

Pisto to play for Reserves

Pisto is set to make his comeback from injury when Everton Reserves take on Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night. Sandro yet to be involved this season has made sure he hasn't come back too soon, as he did with his last injury. (14/10/02)
