* Was up above the corner flag as got tickets at Leeds. Memories include Leeds defenders horizontal in mid air, shot thro' legs not going too quick as a bit scuffed, but coming closer and closer towards us on the angle, then nestling in the corner- then pandemonium surrounded by miserable Leeds fans, looking right down on Blues rocking the Stand behind goal, whole stand fizzing as Blues go berserk.Told my Leeds cousin 12 months before this game about Rooney. Years of going down to Bellend Rd to see Blues. Final memory - throw in to us in last minute, Unsworth(?) delib throw to Roon for him to waste last few seconds. Love The Blues. Bellend Rd Blue Exile. *Me, my dad, my bro and my mate just to the right of wayne! just before we ran on the pitch! What a goal. Pete Francis. (23/06/03)

* Rooney's goal was great, since my dad was alive we have not won there in the league. i was on holiday in Kos the week before the game, my ticket arrived the day i set off for my hols, all hols i was wishing that sunday to arrive. I live near Hull, and me and another season ticket holder were no the train to Leeds early to get beered up, which we did in fine style, but i will never forget that goal, the best i have seen in years, best thing was i started a new job the next day at an accoutnants in Hull, and my boss i found out the next day as i went in wearing my Everton tie....... a leeds season ticket holder....... fantastic. Terry McCarthy. (23/06/03)

* Last minute decision to go, had a ticket on the last row on me bill, was lucky enough to witness our first win there in the league for 50 odd years, to make it even better it was my first away win after seeing us away 8 times before that without any luck! The scenes when the goal went in are second to none in my memory, Rooney vs the arse was fantastic but at Elland Road it was just madness, i'll never forget that for as long as i live, cheers Wayne! Batesie.(23/06/03)

* I am the bloke between Rooney's legs. Ta from jamie machin. (20/06/03)

* The goal was fantastic. It was up there with the best. But the best moment was when The Duke came deep & got the ball. Eric Bakke came towards him, Rooney with a swivel & a twist flicked the ball past him in an instant. Poor Eric tried to react, but The Duke was already past him, & Bakke did his Bambi on ice impression & ended up on his arse. A great moment. Even looking at it now on DVD, months later it's still edge of the seat stuff. Cookie. (20/06/03)

* IT WAS HALF WAY THROUGH HELF TIME WHILE THE LEEDS SUBS WER WARMING UP (MARTYN BRIDGES ETC.) AND MARTYN SMACKED A BALL INTO THE CROWD AND HIT A GIRL IN THE FACE. THE EVERTON FANS REFUSED TO GIVE IT BACK, ANOTHER TWO WERE KICKED INTO THE CROWD AND WERE KEPT BY THE EVERTON FANS. NEXT MINUTE ALL THE EVERTON FANS WERE SINGING ''YOU'VE ONLY GOT 1 BALL '' COMEDY !!!!! EVEN MICHAEL BRIDGES WAS IN STICHES. PADDY (15). (08/11/02)

* Sitting at home in Cork, Ireland, on a wet miserable sunday with my three year old daughter (also an evertonian) and I kept looking at the Aertel (text) on an Irish tv channel. Finally, at around 5p.m. I look again and note that The Dook had scored the winner and I went absolutely apeshite. Danced around the place with the daughter singing Rooney, Rooney, Rooney. Aside, Absolutely Brilliant site, especially for a long distant supporter like me in Cork. Most of the supporters in our supporters club are fans of your site. I was in Spain for the first two weeks of September and it was shagging miserable not having access to a computer and your site.

P.S. Match report of Newcastle game by Sausage (what a win) was just brilliant. This man covers every move and maybe he should do more of the reports. because as he says himself he won't give a party political broadcast. Keep up the good work. Yours etc, Stephen Murphy. (08/11/02)

* Yes, I am on the picture along with me Dad Dennis from Speke and my brother Steve. As my brother lives in Leeds, we hung around after the match to catch the players getting on the coach. The only people I wanted to see were Rooney and Ginger Moyes, but due to media attention we couldn't get anywhere near them. We did manage to talk to Wrighty, Radz, Toby and Rooney's Dad! It was strange that his dad is so young, about 38 I believe! I can only imagine how proud he must be, as his son has now already joined the long list if Everton legends. All I can say is thanks for being an Evertonian, Wayne. Keith Mulville (Ellesmere Port)(08/11/02)

* As an exiled blue living in Harrogate it was a superb day on Sunday as most of my colleagues support Leeds. I was in row J just out of the photograph unfortunately. Like everyone else I went berserk when the duke scored hugging total strangers. Had to travel back into Leeds city centre with all the glum Leeds fans, one fat bloke tried to strike up a conversation on the bus, seemed to be a bit of a nutter so in my best Yorkshire accent I told him how Everton where the peoples club and deserved all their success and Leeds where on the way down, i think he is now a blue. The buzz of anticipation when he got the ball was phenomenal, let's hope it continues, away support was brilliant love the Moyes "red hair" song. MAD DOG SEDGE. (08/11/02)

* We got in the ground just after 2 and went about rattling another 3 down me neck before taking our seats. We were in the LURPACK stand what a shite name for a stand. I got seated just before kick - off, wondering to myself what sort of reception Callo and me would get if the mighty blues went ahead. I was right next to our fans so that helped a bit. The game started and for the first 20m mins I was quite happy. Apart from the Aussie twat having a shot over the bar they didn't trouble us. I politely applauded for the first 25 mins or so when they had a chance of sorts trying to contain my support to the blues, but when JUDAS dived after about half an hour I couldn't contain myself any longer, cried of die die Nicky nicky die rang round the ground, with chants of die you Judas twat coming from me.

A section of where I was sitting looked round giving me and Callo some shit, by this time I couldn't give a shite. We were still in the game and the ale and lack of sleep began to take its affect. Half time - another pint settled the nerves and a few looks were given as I ordered the Ale in Scouse language rather than sheep shagger language, they all talk shite up there anyhow, nowt taken owt and that bollocks.

2nd Half and the Rads running riot, all he needs is another goal and he 's on his way. The floodlights come on and the blue fans are in full cry. By this time the Leeds fans were getting frustrated at their team and to be fair they are shite. It starts to become apparent that we are not the only away fans in the Leeds end. We start bellowing out We love you Everton and the Leeds fans do nothing but sit there with glum faces. Then the moment we had be dreaming about for 51 years finally happened . Roooonaldo slips the ball past Bakke, we were right in line of his 30 yard run, dinks one way then the other and slides the ball through Radeabe;s legs and through the stranded Robinson.GOAL! . I was witness to scenes I haven't seen since the heady days of the mid 80's. Mass hysteria, grown blokes jumping on each other, bowing to a 17 year old.

The finally minutes are being played out and by this time I'm standing up . The whistle blows and our fans go ballistic. This has been by far the best away journey I've had since Super Kev scored at Newcastle 2 years ago in our 0-1 win. I hope and believe that there could be one or more to of these days on the way! Regards Neill Rutherford. (08/11/02)

* Me and my son are on the picture. We are 4 rows back about a third of the way up on the left hand side of the photo. I'm the one in the blue jacket with raised arms and specs, and our John is the little fella to my right. What a fantastic experience. It's so long since we have felt so good and looked forward so much to going to see Everton. My lad has been coming now since 1996 and for the first time he is seeing an Everton side that fights for everything and makes us feel optimistic.

After he scored, I looked at Rooney when he was airborne and couldn't believe how high his feet were off the ground. The whole moment was fantasy come true. The bloke to my left, whose head is between the arms of the fella in the white jacket, managed to keep hold of Yobo's shirt when he threw it into the crowd - what a brilliant souvenir. Happy days. Paul (Southport). (08/11/02)

* I was sittin on row K, at the end of the row, when we scored after jumping about a bit. I ended up fallin on me face on row b somehow!!!, me mate is also the ugly cunt jumping on li tie when we scored aswell. Darren. (07/11/02)

* THERE'S A COACH THAT GOES HOME AND AWAY FROM "THE CLAUGHTON" IN BIRKENHEAD. ALL THE TICKETS FOR THE COACH ARE USUALLY TOGETHER AND HALF THE COACH IS ON ROONEYS PIC......OH HAPPY DAYS!!!
Chis Johnson. (07/11/02)

* I feel fortunate to have witnessed that historic goal, can remember there seemed to be a hush of anticipation when he picked the ball up,don't know about anyone else, but I just felt he was going to score, and believe me I'm no mystic Meg!It was spooky!!

* Due to growing up with Matteo I got myself two complimentary for the Leeds paddock towards the Everton end. Shortly after THAT goal mark 2, there was a break in play for a substitution whilst a throw-in was waiting to be taken. Carsley had the ball, Rooney was waiting to get it. The Leeds fans near me were all shouting abuse at him so what did the young lad do ? Did he look embarrassed and coyly turn away ? Did he go red and look at his shoes ? Oh no. The young Mr Rooney simply pulled the cockiest grin you have ever seen and began to blow kisses at the Leeds mentalists while swaggering and winking at all and sundry. Absolute class. * Being from Leeds and working in an office full of their blinkered fans, obviously I was more anxious than most for us to win this one. The atmosphere was excellent considering the home fans gave us nothing to bounce off or react to. When Rooney scored it was pandemonium and I can honestly say I've never experienced anything like it. It was the second time in 15 days that I'd seen grown men reduced to tears by a teenager! I can honestly say though that I enjoyed walking into work on monday morning equally as much as that goal. Its wednesday morning now and I'm sat in the office in my home shirt ready to go to tonight's worthy cup tie and the miserable buggers still won't talk about sunday! Rob Fearnley (Leeds, 22). * Missed out a little story you may also appreciate from Sunday. Got me and me arl fella in the players lounge after the game. Only Unsworth came in from the Blues side but Ian Snodin was in there getting called Judas for reveling in the victory. Anyway, we'd been in there half hour or so and all the Leeds players had arrived to meet up with their respective Dolly birds, when we noticed that there was no sign of Barmby. In actual fact there had been no sign of Barmby on the pitch for the final half an hour which comes as no surprise. As we were leaving the lounge who should come walking through but Iscariot himself with the whitest face I have ever seen as though he had seen a ghost and what looked like the remnants of tears in the eyes. Good old Eddie Gray had clearly inserted the largest rocket he could find in the dressing room, right up his behind. Instead of the anticipated sense of anger I would feel at bumping into him, I was awash with smugness and, dare I say it, pity for the sorry little creature he has become. Had I not been walking on three feet of air due to the victory I had just witnessed I might have reacted differently. Who needs Nick Barmby when we've got Wayne Rooney ? I have exorcised my Barmby demons, maybe we all should after his bum performance and booking on Sunday. I feel like the divorce papers have finally come through and now its time to move onwards and upwards. Mark Birrell (07/11/02)

* I wasn't on the Rooney pic but i met him on the way home at a petrol station! its was quality. I got out of the mini bus and went for a piss, on the way back to the bus i heard a cheeky scouse voice coming from a car saying 'how did everton get on today mate?' I smiled and said 'we won 1-0' i didn't recognise that the person who asked me was Tony Hibbert!! Then as i walked away from the car i heard them all laughing so i turned around again to see the cheeky face of Wayne Rooney! I said 'Alright Wayne mate' then quickly ran to the car and grabbed his hand and shook it, then hugged Mr. Hibbert the best full back in England! It was fantastic, i got me leeds ticket signed by both of them 2! It was a great day! Great Site Lads! Ste Enty Jnr Winsford. (07/11/02)

* I was at the Leeds game and some blokes started it off! Give it a few weeks and the whole of Goodison will be singin it! It goes to the tune of 'I Saw Her Standing There' by The Beatles and the words are: "He is just 17, Yeah you know what I mean, And he wears golden boots upon his feet, Oh we wouldn't want Michael Owen, OOOoooh, Cuz we've got Wayne Rooney!" Good innit?!
jabbott. (07/11/02)

* I couldn't get a ticket with the Evertonians so bought one on the half way line amongst all the fair-minded and compassionate Leeds supporters. When Rooney was waiting to come on all you could hear was his name booming around the stadium. His first touch was not good and a few around me started singing out his name in mocking fashion. Five minutes later they were silent. Moyes is right, the noise from the Evertonians was fantastic, it cannot help but lift the players. Hoddros. (07/11/02)

* I went to the game with my mum and dad, who nicely paid for the ticket and drove down to Leeds. When we got in I wanted to put a bet on, but there were no betting facilites, so i could not put a bet on Rooney to score the 1st goal! We saw the players warm up and leaving the field I knew we only had minutes to kick off! The game started and all the Evertonians were singing especially when Barmby was attacking. I felt it was not that nice what we sang but I joined in! When I saw Barmby running clear I thought typical scoring a goal past us! then when he fell or dived. I thought No! the ref giving a penalty but as soon as he went to his pocket I said no! we down to 10 men! then when the yellow card was produced I just laughed!

The 1st half ended with us playing a lot better! In the 2nd half I felt Leeds were pressuring us but could not get the ball in the net! When Rooney came on I thought he as a good chance, but I expected the game to finish 0-0! When Rooney picked up the bal,l I concentrated just on rooney! when he shot I could not believe it the goal looked a lot better than it did on tv. It looked to go in far in the corner! and looked liked it did not go through radabes legs!

I went belzake and just watched the leeds fans faces! i just laughed and cheered! seeing the fans on the pitch just told me how much the club means to them! The final minutes were too long! I noticed about 3 minutes before the 4 minute indicator came up i saw the 4th official flash 4 minutes so i knew we had at least 5 minutes left! I missed wright booking! When the final moments and everton timed wasted I thought it must be over! the corner came and there were no one up for it! i thought what's the point we do not want a quick break and leeds to score! when the ref blow for full time i jumped up and celebrated until all the players left the pitch!

watching the fans when i left, still up there told me that I came to one of the best games ever! that I seen Everton play! I know a lot of leeds fans and there were not happy when i came and talked to them in my everton shirt! stuart aldus (hull) (07/11/02)
