Icing on The Cake

Super Kev has again come out fighting, rallying the troops.

Kev says: "We can beat anybody on our day, as we've proved several times this season. Since the beginning of the season, there's been a tremendous sense of well-being around the club and to get a European spot would be the icing on the cake for us. When we played them at Old Trafford, I don't think they were going through the best of spells and I don't think we were either, but we kept it close until five minutes before the end when they hit us with three goals. They'll be coming to our place looking to finish their season on a high. But if we can keep it tight, as we usually do, and nick a goal, then we can beat them." (09/05/03)

Some Game

Super doesn't think the game will be any easier just because Man u have won the league.

He explains:“It’s going to be some game.Even though the title is all over I don’t necessarily think it will be of benefit to us because you could say they’ll be feeling good about themselves and can play with a bit more freedom. We’ll be going to win, we won’t be thinking of anything else. It’s our last home game of the season and we need to make sure we are in Europe while United will be wanting to go out on a high too.”(05/05/03)

Oh No It Isn't

Unlucky Super the goal panel for FA Premier League has given Evertons first goal as an own goal.

Bobby Spokesman said: “Everton’s first goal against West Bromwich Albion on 18th January has been confirmed as a Russell Hoult own goal.”(17/04/03)

It's Mine

Super wants both the goals scored against WBA.

Kev said:"The ‘keeper has come out for the first one and punched the ball, it’s hit the back of my head and gone in. Obviously I don’t know much about it but I’ll see if I can claim it because I want to claim it.” (14/04/03)

It Is An Honour

Super scored his fisrt goal for 13 games yesterday and it ended up being the winner. He has heaped praise on young Waynes and see a Euro place as a reward for a great season.

Kev said:"To be honest it's an honour and a privilege to play alongside him. Defenders are going to have come up against him for years to come and I don't envy them one bit."

"We are going for a European place which we believe will cap our season off nicely after all the improvements that have been made.A lot of teams have been in the situation before only to fall by the wayside. They haven't qualified but they have still gone on and said that they have enjoyed a good season. But being at this stage with six games to go, having not been fancied by people not to do anything special, it would be very disappointing if we didn't reach Europe now.(13/04/03)

Super Makes The Difference

While most of the plaudits were going to The Rad after his brace against The Saints, Southampton manager Gordan Strachan was praising Everton striker Kevin Campbell.
Gordan says: "We must look at what their substitutes achieved and the fact that they did better than ours, not just as individuals but the fact that their three were excellent in what they did. Our central defenders did well early on, but let's look at their substitutions and how that changed things. Campbell was the man who did a lot of the damage, not just Rooney. Campbell made all the difference. (24/02/03)

Take A Breather

David Moyes believes that not giving Super a rest over the Xmas period cost Everton dearly. But now Macca has burst on the scene it may give Super the rest he needs. I don't think Kevin will see it like that.

Moyesy said:"We were affected by the amount of games and tiredness but one of the most important factors was that we didn't have anyone available who could give Campbell a breather during that period. He has given us so much this season and we weren't able to give him a rest at any time so that took its toll in the end.(20/01/03)

Super Should Be Fit

Super Kev should be fit for the visit of Sunderland this Saturday. He has missed the last two games with an ankle injury and he has looked a bit out of sorts so hopefully the rest has done him good.

Moyesy said: “After missing the last few games it looks as though Kevin Campbell will now be fit for the weekend.” (16/01/03)

Ankle Injury Could Keep Super Out

Kevin is doubtful for the City game on New Years Day due to a double injury. He got a knock on his calf in the 1st half of the Bolton game, & nearly never appeared for the second half. Then he got the ankle injury & was replaced by The Rad. The physio will monitor the situation, but it doesn't look good. This will mean that The Duke & The Rad will have to play together, as the other target players Nick Chadwick & Duncan Ferguson are still out with long term injuries. (30/12/02)

100 NOT OUT

That headline is something we won't see about an English batsman against the Aussies.

Super plays his 100th Premiership match tomorrow for the Toffeemen. During that time he has scored 41goals. That's some going. My all time hero Graeme Sharp had some nice things to say about Super

Sharpy said:"Kevin has made an outstanding contribution to Everton Football Club, there's no doubt in my mind about that. He has managed to get through a full pre-season for the first time in a while, and that has shown in his form this season. We are told he hasn't missed a single minute's training this season and Everton have benefited."(13/12/02)

England's No 9

Is there a better centre dash at the moment? Well David Moyes doesn't think there is. He is playing top stuff at the moment is our Super and long may it continue.

Moyesy said:"He has played every game for us and when I have asked him if he wants a breather he has said, 'No way!'. He wants to play every game and he is always first at the training ground every day. His attitude has been excellent"

"When other managers and other scouts speak to me they highlight Kevin as the player they are most concerned about facing."(21/11/02)

Aye Aye Captain

Not only does Super Kev go into the game against West Ham as 3rd leading scorer in the Premiership but he will also get the Captains arm band again. With Duncan still out injured and Davie Weir suspended Super was the choice and he deserves it.

Moyesy said:"Kevin is doing great this season, he's regained his confidence."(24/10/02)

Kevin Campbell is Super Kev again.

It's nearly a year since Campbell scored at Goodison Park. He scored the 2 goals to beat Boro last week. So everything is rosy for Kev. Well just. At that game with 5 minutes to go there was a break in play, as a Boro player got treatment for an injury, Kev took advantage to have a drink, & while he was looking into the Park End, the fans responded with the 'Super Kev' chant. It was sung with appreciation for our number 9, but not with the gusto we have heard when he was banging the goals in a couple of seasons ago. That in itself is a warning to Kevin, who knows he must continue to score goals to win the fans over, & also keep his place. With Nick Chadwick scoring for the reserves this week, & say it quietly Big Dunc nearing full fitness, Kev will soon have competition for the 'Big Striker' roll, as Moyesy goes for the 'Big Striker', 'Little Striker' combo upfront.

One thing Super has in his favour is his work rate this season, which has silenced most of the Campbell is lazy brigade. Moyesy took the captaincy from him this season, but has instilled a great work ethic to the team, & Super has responded. He also has the backing of his team mates.

Moyesy said: "Kevin has not missed five minutes training since we reported back for pre-season. He's done everything and now he's getting the benefits. He's keeping his fitness levels up with regular work and he's been the one providing us with strength up front while also looking after Radzinski and Rooney."

Pembo says: "If you look at his performances I don't think he's had a difficult time at all," said Pembridge. He's scoring goals, making chances, playing well and giving 100 per cent in every game. Now he's getting his rewards with these two goals. The first goal was a case of being in the right place at the right time which all good strikers have a knack of doing and the second was a classic header, very similar to the one he scored against Middlesbrough here last season."
Long may it continue, Super. (21/09/02)
