Lee Carsley

Harry Stars For The Irish

Lee helped the Irish win 2-0 against Georgia. To top a great performance he got forward, & hooked a ball over his head for Robbie Keane to score. Ireland are now second behind Switzerland in Group 10. (13/06/03)

Lee Starts For Republic

A change of manager has worked wonders for Harry Hill, as new boss Brian Kerr picked Lee. He responded with a fine performance. Lee hit the post and Damien Duff scored the rebound. Carsley was one of the players who got hit by objects thrown by the crowd in Tiblisi. There is talk of an enquiry. The Republic of Ireland defeated Georgia 2-1. (31/03/03)

Lee Chips In

Lee is happy to take some of the burden of scoring goals, but he must carry on chipping in with a few every now and then.

Lee said:"One of the things the gaffer has emphasised is scoring goals from other areas, we can’t rely on Radz, Kev and Wayne all the time. Gary Naysmith, Mark Pembridge and myself have got to start chipping in more.” (16/12/02)

Harry Misses Out On The Worthy

It looks like the foot injury which saw Lee Carsley substituted at Newcastle on Sunday is going to keep him out of the Worthington Cup game away at Chelsea tomorrow. Everton physio Mick, 'Basil' now spelt Basle, Rathbone, said that a scan had proved no more than severe bruising, so we will probably see our Harry Hill look-a-like rested and brought back against the Cockneys at Goodison on Saturday and strengthen our attempt to go 2nd.(03/12/02)

No Problem For Ireland

Irish manager Don Givens is glad to have Harry Hill to call on for thr friendly against Greece tonight.

Givens said: "I have seen Lee on television and I have seen him in training and he is buzzing."He is full of confidence. The position Everton are in the league is rubbing off on him and that is an area of the field I don't have any worries about". (20/11/02)

What A Beauty

Lee Carsley scored with a very brave header that secured the 3 points against the 'ammers. He could have also secured a place in the side after another decent performance for the Toffeemen. He has been as solid as a rock down the right and it has been no coincidence that Tony Hibbert has had his best spell in an Everton shirt while Lee has been in the side.

David Moyes said: "Lee has done extremely well since he came into the side. He's taken his chance and looked dangerous. He hit the post against Arsenal last week before we equalised and I've been very pleased with him in the last few games. It was a fantastic, text-book header at the back post.

"Lee fought for it and was brave to get it, coupled with a great cross. But it was a very good goal in its own right."(28/10/02)

Lee To Grab His Chance

Lee played on the right side of midfield for the blues in their outstanding win against Fulham on saturday. He replaced Niclas Alexandersson, & gave a good performance. Getting into good crossing positions, while also getting back & helping out Tony Hibbert, who has been left on his own exposed a few times this season. Lee has had to wait patiently for his chance in the 1st team. He is determined to make a go of it.

Lee says: “It felt good. I was looking at the appearances before the game and I haven’t even played ten times for Everton. It’s early days yet, but I’m not getting carried away. I just have to keep working as hard as I can and take it from there. The ball’s in my court, so we’ll see how it goes. I really enjoyed it. Fulham came here as a very sharp, confident side and it could have gone either way before we got the goal, but we scored at a good time and I think the tempo that we played paid off. It suits me if I can get up and down the field because then I can get in to the box, but I don’t think you’re going to see me doing any step-overs and flying down the wing!."(30/09/02)

More Splinters for Harry

Our own Harry Hill has played just 1 full game against Wrexham, & a couple of part games in the pre-season friendlies. So it looks like he will be on the side lines for the start of the season. (10/08/02)

Lee has no Irish Luck

Lee has come back from the World Cup fresh, & as fit as ever, having only played 2 minutes in the entire World Cup competition. He needs a week resting, as it took a hours to get those splinters from his arse.
Lee says "I just need a rest, & then I'll be looking forward to getting a few games under my belt in the friendlies."
