| Excited
Scot
is determined to play more than the 12 games he played last year
and thinks that Europe is a genuine target this year.
Scot
said: “I
think all you can ask for is a level playing field. The manager
seems to be honest with everybody and picks his team fairly. It
is basically up to the individual to see what you can do to try
and get into the team. The season is only a couple of weeks away
and everyone is starting to feel excited. I only played a dozen
games last year but it’s a fresh start and I am determined to
get into the team.
I think everybody knows the expectation levels have gone up since
doing very well last year. We wouldn’t be being fair to ourselves
if we didn’t raise the bar this time around. Last year we tentatively
spoke about Europe, this time it's a real possibility.(31/07/03)
Freshen
Up
Scot
has
been getting a bit of stick from certain quaters and he knows
that the boss is going to freshen things up. Scot has had a run
of eight consecutive Premiership games for the Toffeemen. Maybe
that run will come to an end against Arsenal
Scot
said: “The manager has said that he’s going to freshen
the team up and make changes, so that’s kept us all on our toes.
Also, the lads who are playing for the reserves at the moment
know that they have a chance to make it in the first team.”(19/03/03)
Everton
and Scotland
Scot
couldn't be happier. Back in the fold at Goodison and re-called
to the Scottish squad. Scot has enjoyed a run of 4 games for the
Toffeemen, winning 3 of them.
Scot
said:"I couldn't really argue with not being able
to get into the team after I recovered from injury because they
were doing so well. You can't go and complain to the manager.
He knows the players who aren't involved are not too happy about
it, but he picks the teams that are winning so players who aren't
in the side have to wait for their chance. It's good to be back
involved again and playing in a team that is confident and creating
chances."(05/02/03)

A Game
Scott came on as sub for Tommy Gravesen
against Man City, & he's hoping to go one better on Satuday
with a starting place in the FA Cup.
Scott
says: "This season has been a bit of a nightmare
because I wasn't fit enough to take part and lost my place because
of it. Now that I am back to full fitness I can't get back in,
which is not good for me. Last season I was really pleased because
I played in virtually every game I was fit enough to be available
for. I am now jealous of the other boys because I want to be part
of a team that's doing well." Maybe playing in 'virtually
every game' when we were crap & Walter Smith got the sack,
is prying on Moyesy's mind. (03/01/03)
Stoke
- No go
Stoke
are after Scot for a months loan.
Scot says: “I certainly don’t want to go. I want to play
for Everton. If it’s up to me, I won’t be going anywhere. I’m
glad the manager has rubbished the reports and until he tells
me that he wants me to go then I won’t even consider leaving.”

Credit
Scot
again has been praised for his attitude after another great performace
for the Reserves on Monday night.
Andy
Holden said:"I’ve
just said to Scot Gemmill that he’s a credit to his profession.Although
he’s not featuring for the first team on a Saturday afternoon,
he showed a great reaction. His attitude and enthusiasm is first-class.”
Scot
said: “It’s hard to get motivated to play on a Monday night
in Widnes in front of less than a thousand people. But that rainy
night is the only chance you get to show that you should be playing.
You need to do it for yourself and stay fit. I have to remind
myself of that before I play.”
“Obviously
I want the team to do well, though when you’re injured, you’re
frustrated - as well as feeling jealous that you are not part
of the side.”(13/11/02)
Scot
Praised For Performance
Scot
has found to it hard to break into the first team. With only one
first team outing against Wrexham in the Worthington Cup, it still
doesn't stop him from giving his all for the reserves.
Andy
Holden said:"Scot led by example. He kept running, kept probing
and he was always available to receive the ball. His work-rate
was excellent-it always is".(22/10/02)
Berti
Lets Scot Play
Scot
has been given permission by Berti to play for Everton Reserves
v Man Utd tommorrow at Halton Stadium.
Moyesy
said: "I spoke to Berti on Sunday and he gave permission
for Scot to stay and get a reserve game under his belt. After
the game I’ll make contact with him to see if Scot is all right
to join up with the party.” (03/09/02)
Scot
Gemmill will play his first game of the season, when he plays
for the reserves, but only after Moyesy gets his way with Scotland
boss, Berti Vogts.
Moyesy
says: "Scot is fit but he needs some games. We have a
reserve match in midweek and I will ask Berti Vogts if he can
stay for that. He missed three weeks of pre season, so it would
be ideal if he stayed behind." (01/09/02)
