Everton Look At Championship Top Scorer
Bookmark and Share

With just a week to go before the transfer window closes, David Moyes has stated he's still looking for a striker.

There seems no reason for Everton to let Bily go back home to Russia now when the team is short of players, except that the cash will be used to get the manager his striker.

The latest name on the list is Rickie Lambert. The 29 year old Southampton striker has scored 17 times for the Championship side(second division in old money).

The Liverpool born centre forward has played for lower league clubs, Blackpool, Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers before moving to Southampton for £1 million in August 2009. He has always scored goals. 190 in 523 games so he knows were the net is.

With Saints currently second in the league it would seem they may not be keen on selling.

why doesnt david moyes just get on the phone to duncan ferguson instead of wasting what ever money we have on another beckford' if he brought james mcfadden back im sure duncan is still capable of doin the job. Were not gonna do nothin this season maybe sneak into europe if we pull our socks up but thats a big IF...

Last night i watched the cardiff v palace game and peter whittingham stood out as the ideal replacement for billy.I think that he could step right into the team as a playmaker reminded me of arteta the way he picked out his passes and he can also score plenty of goals just what we need at present

Nope, he's 29 and not good enough, he's having one good season which does not for consitute a chance in the Premiership not to mention the inflated price that Southampton would not doubt command, there are better players available.

I like to be optimystical when dreaming of Everton, but i fear outgoings and nobody coming in, same story, another 5 m from Billy to the bank, bring about 23 m from the last years sales and no strengthening. I hope i am wrong but just smile at all these thinks. Something has to change and soon, stand up you supporters and chant your feelings ! As for Lambert, at 29 and plying his trade in lower leagues, too late in my opinnion, we need a younger version that can improve. Happy days

One glaring mistake in that statement boy's "except that the cash will be used to get the manager his striker". I won't be getting my hopes up...

There is possibly a reason why at 29 he is still in at that level! No disrespect to him, but possibly he's at his level! Jordan Rhodes if we're going lower leagues!! Please!!

Leeds only gave up Beckford after they gained promotion, I doubt the saints are going to sell em at value looking at promotion. If we want him, we'd have to pay more than he's worth, and pardon me if I'm not interested.

I dont know too much of a risk when we need goals, i think it'd be worth looking at Hugo Rodellaga out of contract in may and a quality (cheap) player. COYB
