Kostas Manolas To Goodison?
Bookmark and Share

Just heard from our snout and apparently Everton have agreed a £500,000 deal with AEK Athens for their Greek defender Kostas Manolas (Mano to his mates).

The Toffees have also agreed personal terms with the tough tackling 20-year-old centre-back.

AEK are keen to sell Greece Under-21 international Manolas in the window as he is out of contract in the summer. They also have financial difficulties and are ready to listen to offers for their best players.

Mano is a Greek U21 international having made 5 appearances, he has played 60 times for AEK scoring 5 goals.

So if the terms of the Jelly deal are agreed then Mano should follow.

Watch this space.

Apparently, the terms of this one are not agreeable and for now the deal is off!

Seems to me that it's possible we didn't have enough of our transfer budget left from the Jelavic deal, to sort out the deal for Manolas. Either that or the club asked too much for him. I think this one now hangs in the balance as Sky Sports says that we remain in talks with the player's representatives about a possible pre-contract deal, with Manolas out of contract at the end of the season. I don't know if this is going to work out the way things currently stand. He's a good prospect and I hope we don't lose out on this one.

Why pay anything for him,he only has 6 months on his contract.Sign him on a pre-contract agreement so he costs nothing and he stays at Athens for the rest of the season were hes getting games.

From what I've read on BBC Sport, this is isn't as yet a 100% done deal. Yes we have agreed a fee of £500,000 and personal terms have been agreed, but however, also mentioned on the BBC Sports website is "the transfer is on standby as Everton wait to see how much of their transfer budget might be taken up by the prospective signing of striker Nikica Jelavic from Rangers". Must say I find it a bit strange to go for Kostas Monolas, sign him and do personal terms, but make him wait to see what money we have left from the Jelavic deal. Things are never straight forward with us, but with regards to the Manolas deal perhaps David Moyes knows what he's doing and time will tell later on if this deal is complete and if anyone else comes in.
