Moyes Watches Dutch Starlets Shine
Bookmark and Share

Everton Manager David Moyes and assistant Steve Round travelled to Holland on Wednesday to watch Heerenveen beat Steve McLaren's FC Twente 4-3.

It is unsure who they were specifically looking at, but a few media outlets think that it was Holland's top goalscorer Bas Dost. The 22-year-old obliged with his 31st goal of the season.

The 1.92 m (6' 4" in old money) striker has hit double figures for the last two season. The Dutch goal machine has also hit 5 goals in 10 matches for the U21s.  Bas has been likened to Peter Crouch, but he's no freak. Although with a cake hole like that he'd be great in a hot dog eating contest.

The other possible targets were Heerenveen winger Luciano Narsingh who scored. The 21 year old speedster has set many goals up for Bas this season and he is also a Dutch U21 International.

In the FC Twente ranks Dutch international forward Luuk de Jong bagged a brace and has 26 goals in 56 games. He has caps and has been attracting interest from other European clubs.

As with all the transfer targets, the question is 'Will Everton have the money' to buy these type of players? What do you think?

Just hope he's not another Alfonso Alves remember him he burst the net every week in Holland then went to M'Boro and basically looked like his boots were on the wrong feet everytime he played. The sunday papers today say he (Moyes) was actually scouting out Twente striker De Jong? Who knows....

Could of been watching anyone from Dost, Assaidi, Narsingh, Djuricic of Heerenveen and Douglas, Brama, Fer, de Jong, Bajrami, Chadli or Ola John of FC Twente?.

I love our Bill but,the 'Having no money' thing has worn a bit thin the last few seasons.

Even if we sold Bainse, Barkly and Felli we'd still only get a couple of loan deals as we've got the Euros! Hardly anyone buys on an International year! But hey Kenright, you're welcome to go ahead and prove me wrong and splash out on a few top draw or bargain basement deals! Messi sounds good! I would also love Moyes to beware of the voices and "Big us up" every once in a while! Talking our goals down surely can't be good for team moral! We need to be more aggressive with our goals, this kind of "positive pressure" will help us kick the RS in the kennys and move us higher than 7th spot next year! We keep the faith in you so you keep the faith in the Team! Go Team!!!

Maybe Moyes was there but not Steve Round as he is busy promoting his latest film role as Hawkeye in The Avengers. Check it out out

My heart says yes we will look to buy in a couple but my head says probably not! I would hope we get Pienaar back and maybe Donovan in January to start with but yes I would definitely want us to take these kinds of players in. I have been posting on sites asking for us to look at Dost and Vossen as help for Jelavic as well as a right winger so the above article is encouraging. I would also like to see us try and sign Dempsey but I think he will be too pricey.

They all sound promising. Bas Dost! Yes, dont see how we can afford him though. Get Pienaar signed up and a right winger in (seen us linked with Ryan Mendes in France- faster than anything we've got an cool classy winger). Imagine how good we could be next season with just a bit of cash & transfer magic from Moyes. Shouldnt get excited after repeated disappointment year in year out, but I reckon we are very nearly on to something very special here.
