Crewe Alexander has a history of bringing through young talent and the latest could be the best of the lot according to Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker.
Nick Powell is the 18 year old midfielder who is attracting scouts from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd.
Yesterday David Moyes watched the teenage prospect play against against Aldershot. He didn't disappoint. Always in the thick of it. He was unlucky not to score with an effort that struck a post.
Powell has already played 50 times for Crewe and has scored 15 goals this season. The England U18 international recently won Young Player of the year, Player of the year and best goal of the season.
Baker said: "It will take a lot of doing, but he could be the best of the lot. He's earned it. He's a special player. He's not only a great individual, he works hard for the team as well."
We'll just have hope that Everton's record of giving young players a chance will be an advantage over the financial muscle of the usual suspects.
