Greek Goalie Heading For Goodison?
Bookmark and Share

With the news that Marcus Hahnemann is heading out of Goodison, the bloke outside the Goodison Supper Bar reckons he knows who his replacement will be.

Reports are that Olympiakos goalkeeper Balazs Megyeri (Megs to his mates) could be set to join Everton this summer, his agent thinks he could be on the move too.

The 22-year-old has been in good form last season, helping the Greek giants bag the domestic double. Meg's feats have attracted attention across Europe and Moyesy could also be interested.

Blue Bill will could be getting his chequebook out to bid for Megyeri once the transfer window reopens with the Hungary Under-21 international entering the final year of his contract at the Karaiskakis Stadium. He is reportedly valued between £800,000 and £1 million.

Agent Janos Hrutka said: 'Of course, he'll have the last word on his future, but it's important for him to be playing in Europe and to have an opportunity of playing first-team football.'

'He's young so the financial side is not the most important aspect of any potential move and even staying at Olympiakos could be an option.'

'However, he could easily change clubs if it meant a step forward in his career.'

We need quality keeper not only to back up Tim Howard but to also compete with him and keep him on his toes.

Should be looking at experienced keeper who is prepared to be a sub.

If this lad is Hungary for first team football, then its not going to happen at Everton with Tim in goal, not just yet anyone, unless Tim gets Goulashed a few times, ahumm!

We should not be spending any of our limited budget on a keeper who will sit on the bench for the majority of the time. Even if Marcus and Jan leave there's bound to experienced keepers out of contract who would cover. Also, why would a number one league winning keeper want to give up his position just to warm our bench? If he moves it should be to a team thats looking for a number 1, surely!
