Newcastle Man Would Be A Steal
Bookmark and Share

Danny Guthrie would be a steal for Everton. The ex redshite player is now a free agent after being released by Newcastle this summer.

Dan, to his mates, played 92 times for Newcastle in the four seasons he has been there.

There is competition for the 25 year old midfielder's signature with West Brom and Reading heading the queue.

Not for me, I'd rather see Barkley get some more playing time than sign Guthrie. Don't get me wrong, he's a decent enough player, but I feel young Ross has more to offer us. Save the wages for someone else.

When you look at a player you look to see if he can improve the team and depth of squad. Sorry but Guthrie won't do that. We have Rodewell, Fellani, Gibson and Osman who will get into the starting eleven before him. Even then I would go with Heitinga or Jags over Guthrie. Moyes needs to invest wisely and Guthrie, for me, is a no no

Alex is right,he wouldn't improve the squad and his wages would be better spent on someone else.

4 replies all in favour? He's average at best and why on earth would we need another CM player?

Could be another Gibson type master stroke if Moyesy signed Guthrie. Good little player, puts a shift in and can pick a pass. If we are to lose Cahill and play Felli in behind Jelavic then i think Guthrie would fit in well alongside Gibson and we'd have 2 very good ball players in the centre of midfield.

Danny is a solid enough player. Not sure he can player a number of different positions like. think he is moving to play first team football week in week out, and to be honest, don't think he would get that in your team. more suited to an aston villa or fulham, not a starter for a top 7 team for me.

Worth a punt, is more of a natural midfielder than rodders plus he can play a number of different positions but doubt it will i dont think anyone has predicted moyes,s signings over the last ten years so just wait patiently till january to sign a few more players
