Is Peanuts Close To Coming Home?
Bookmark and Share

Steven Pienaar is close to finalising a £5m return to Everton.

Blue Bill has been locked in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a permanent move for Peanuts who helped Everton to a storming finish in the Premier League last season following his January loan deal.

Apparently, both clubs are confident a deal will be completed by the start of next week.

Peanuts' departure is likely to be the start of a clear out at Spurs by AVB, he is expected to show Gallas, Gomes, Dos Santos and Modric the door too.

Good news, watch this space.

@DW com 32. I don't want to freak you out or anything and I'm sure the "Conspiracy Theorists" will be having a field day with this one but, to hell with it! I'm just going to come out and say it!... Not every player is going to have a resale value! =O Believe it or not, you do get the odd one that retires or does something crazy like get their coaching badges or even turn pundit! I know, who knew right!? Just when you think you've got this whole football thing down, something like this comes along and blows your complete notion of reality out the water! But what I'm about to tell you will blow your mind even more! I believe (in this wacky crazy world) the same goes on at other clubs! You might need a little time to process all this I know I did!

Peanuts is welcome back anytime in my eyes! What he adds to our team is priceless. So i see no harm in paying 5 mil for him!

5 Million is literally 'peanuts' for such a talent. Keep the squad together along with Peanuts, Naismith and our talented young players coming through and we'll start like we finished last year and get in the Champions League. Every confidence in all at the club

@Drew. I don't like that creative accounting one bit. On your basis you should include the first transfer fee. That was a good transfer. Each transfer should be looked at on it's own. Even if Pienaar has two or three good seasons, which is very possible, he's not going to be worth peanuts so no resale. For a club like us, the possibility of resale bonus important.

Lnk up play? Yes. Behind the front 2? Yes, but without Baines on the left? Lost.

Love the way the guy plays, but £5m makes me choke considering how little we sold him for. If he put's his hand in his pocket and pays the difference between what we sold him to Spurs for and this, or takes a wage low enough over the contract period to offset this then I'd go for the deal!

Chill out on the fee. We sold him for a few million with very little time left on his contract, we probably got a good deal considering.....He has a long contract with Spurs which will increase the fee. The question you should be asking is peanuts worth £5m to EFC? Absolutely.

@DW If you subtract the fee we got from Spurs this is costing more like £2m. Not bad for a player of Pienaars proven quality. We paid more than double that for Distin who was well over 30 and he is still going strong. I'm sure Pienaar still has two of three years left in him and will prove value for money, especially if we can qualify for Europe.

Sure, I'd like to see Pienaar back but five million for a 30 year old winger? In our financial position that is too much and short sighted. Reading all your comments is like watching the blind leading the blind.

Love the player, dont get me wrong - but does anyone think like me and last season with us he was playing for a contract (Remember Saha - got his deal then couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo - unless its the tunnel going to manchester airport). I agree with a lot of the comments about the connection them two have - hence what's the point of him coming here if bainsey is leaving? I have a funny feeling he wont play as well once he has a contract - call me cynical if you wish, but just look back at the loan players we have had in the past (Nuts aside).

spot on cairan- plus the bit of chat, if it to be believed, about seeing if he is in the new managers plans- 110 is right, u owe us nuts. A clip round the ear and get on with it. He's no dunc- keep the pride

Pienaar going for 5mil while Spurs get Adebayor for the same? Something is not adding up on the details. Wasn't Manure supposed to wrap up the Baines swoop by the end of this week? Isn't it Friday? Not believing any of this garbage till the clubs announce what's up. Pienaar for 3mil no more, and KEEP BAINES.

Makes a huge difference to the team, just hope Baines stays to link up with him again.

Decisive if this happens -I will believe it when the deal is done as we have been here so many times in the past and last minute xfer deal fu's. Can we keep Bainsey ? If, I really hope so as there is plenty of hope for this season. IMWT, "Whats Our Name?"

One thing to bear in mind is that we didn't pay a fortune when he first arrived from Dortmund. The money we got from Spurs covered that initial fee and now we are buying him back for a couple of million more so the total outlay in transfer fees is no more than £5m, a fair amount for a player whio has given us so much and will hopefully give us more in the future!

Fantastic news! I know we've lost a couple of mil on this, but he showed his class when he came back to us last year! It's this form which has allowed me forgive his prima donna behaviour when he left us! He belongs at Goodison, not the Lane!!

glad hes back but we sell him for 3mill and buy him back for 5mill should of just gave him the money he wanted in the first place

Run your contract down, move to what you perceive to be a bigger club, fail to make an impact, and then come back with your tale between your legs. All of which took place at a net cost of £2m to Everton. We love ya Stevie P but ur a lucky, luck guy if this transfer happens. 110% and nothing less will do. COYB!!

Good to see that our club agree with the fans and peanuts should be coming to his home but we all know he needs bains and all this talk about him going to utd well what's the point of payin 5 million for him if bains goes just hope we keep the both and enjoy the left side attacking football and now sort the right with jel up front we will go past the shite

Best news i've heard all day. Just hope we don't have to sell to finance the move. Shame if we loose Baines cos him and peanuts work so well>

Id be tempted to put a cheeky bid in for Dos Santos too. He was looked awesome in the 2010 world cup. Harry didn't give him a chance in the Spurs team. He's fast and young and can play on the wing. Might be worth a 1M bid? You never know ..... I'd also like to see us make a move for Matt Jarvis. I've always rated him and could well be in our price range. COYB - Top 4 this season. We can do it with Jelavic banging them in.

Hopefully it goes through, thought it would be closer to the 3m margin but lets just hope he signs! God is great but Pienaar is better!

Hopefully we can get this one over the line and concentrate on wheeling and dealing, getting out the likes of Yobo & Anichebe so we can sign maybe Castaignos IF he hasnt been sold already and bring in a loan or 2 or a freebie (Pranjic, Sivok) to boost numbers?!.

Liked Peanuts in past seasons and also the 2nd half of last season. However, if we sold him for £3mil and are forced to pay £5mil (not to mention the loan fee for last seasin if there was one), I believe Peanut should go to his agent and request some if not all of the £2mil difference be paid by them. The agent sold him a duff move, and Peanut fell for it. Why should Everton FC or our fans suffer for their greed? Peanut should also give up any signing on fee he got from Tottenham or EFC.

Briiliant news! i reall do think he is the vital piece in the jigsaw of our team, he can provide the link up play to jelly and naismith that will be crucial to us scoring goals next season. COYB! IMWT
