Has He Signed Yet
Bookmark and Share

"Has he signed yet?" is a phrase quite a few Evertonians have been asking on phone calls, text messages and tweets over the last few weeks or so.

"NO" is still the answer. Steven Pienaar played for Spurs last night in a pre-season friendly at Stevenage. Surprising really, after David Moyes brought the feel good factor back to all Evertonians by signing Steven Naismith. He then stated in the press conference that his next big thing was to work on bringing back Steven Pienaar back to Everton. That was over 2 weeks ago. So what has happened since then?

New Spurs manager AVB has said that Pienaar can go. Moyes wants him. Pienaar wants to come back to Everton. Everton fans want him back. Even Spurs fans dont want him. They were booing the South African International every time his dreadlocks were swinging down the wing last night.

So it boils down to that 'old chestnut money'. Now we are guessing when we say this, as we don't know. Spurs top man, Daniel Levy is in prime spot here. By all accounts he's said you can have him back for £5m. Blue Bill has either not got £5m or doesnt want to spend £5m and him and Bobby Elstone are trying to negotiate a lower fee and pay it on the never never.

Levy, who has a reputation as a tough negotiater - remember the Modric saga last season, will see this as a piece of cake. The Spurs boss will no doubt be more interested in bringing in more players into Spurs than sorting out one, who wants away.

Maybe Blue Bill is waiting for a payment Everton are due to recieve on 1st August. Maybe Peanuts wont drop his wages. Maybe he's waiting for the cash from the Yobo sale, but that's not sorted yet. Maybe we wont sign him. Maybe Blue Bill will find a buyer. Whatever the reason is, the question "Has he signed yet?" will continue to be asked for a while longer.

Not only is Pienaar a brilliant player, he has also got the deepest voice in football. Squeaky-voiced castratos like Beckham and Carragher must be well jealous!!! Get him signed!!

Forget the politics and all the bitching. He is quite simply top drawer and in our top 3 most important players.

This guy will score, will create goals, will get bums on seats at Goodison and will sell shirts. We can't go back to how we were before christmas last year! If its money we need then lets start a whip round for Blue Bill, Put me down for £10! COYB

I agree with Ste (com 14!) But I'm not quite sure what negativity has to do with the end of a bell

Levy is a notoriusly tough negotiator, but he's simply trying to extract the max sum for a player who does not feature in their new manager's plans and is 30 years old, If Pinnear is a true Blue he will simply have to await a typical last minute agreement with Spurs just before deadline day to enable Everton to pay the right price for such a player, i anticipate a typical last few minutes of the deadline to see whether any other clubs show an interest, this is how Spurs last manager, "Our Harry" operates

Wayneg think you are on the wrong site mate, if you are looking for someone who falls over every time someone breathes on him have a look at Mr Suarez next door...

I agree with Ste in Crosby he was fantastic for us second half of season. We probably gained a few million on league placings by his performances - he made the team tick. Surely to God we can afford to spend £4 or £5m. PS Keep everyone else and we will have a very strong squad for the new season. (A right winger would be nice - Adam Johnson on Loan would be icing on cake) !!!

He fits in well at Everton and I would love him back. But to bring him home? Why did he leave us in the first place.

He's been our best attacking player for years -consistently better than Arteta ever was, by a mile. £5 mil is nothing for a player as good and committed (on the pitch, at least, which is all we care about) as he is. He left to play for a better team, at a higher level (Champs league). I don't blame him for one second. League form from January-May says it all. Massively important we sign him as he will be doing the business for at least another 2 or 3 years. SO SHUT THE FU*CK UP ALL YOU NEGATIVE BELLENDS!!!!!

I reckon the club are waiting to see if Baines goes or not. If he goes then I don't think Pienaar will come because he might not be able to link up the way he did with Bainsey. Moyes has to think of the future too and it may be that a younger player would be better.

We played two games without him after he came back one we had a stormer against Sunderland and the other was against L,pool in the Semi, now tell me would you rather have him in the team or not? This is a no brainer! I was told this deal was already done when we got him back in January, the deal was we got to loan him back in return for Saha going the other way... If things worked out for both of us we would get him back for £2 million Not 5... Pienaar would get his pay-rise that he originally asked for and that was it! Somewhere along the line someone has either gone back on their word or Levy is trying to see how much more he can squeeze out of Everton... My prediction is that he will re-sign on loan....PS Wayneg, IN Cape Town( You must be watching him play for Spurs mate! because the only time you see him on the floor is when he gets chopped....

Don't forget Peanuts and his agent caused this whole sorry saga when he insistedcon leaving despite the best wage offer Everton had ever made, I don't think any of this fiasco can be attributed to EFC this time...peanuts himself should make up the difference if he wants to come back

He left us in the lurch a year or so ago after not coming out and telling the fans whether he was staying or going until January when we sold him. A year on he comes crawling back when the going gets tough, then when interviewed about AVB he says he'd be interested to see whether he's part of his plans. In my opinion we don't need someone who is only interested in us as 2nd best which he has shown three times in the examples I have given. I didn't want him back in January and I don't want him now. Everton are no second best choice and I don't think we should swallow our pride for a player who maybe thinks otherwise.

Can't stand him. Have you noticed that he falls on the floor every time he gets the ball? There is enough experienced/up-and-coming talent around already - we can do without him at 5 million.

Levy loves the sound of loose change, whilst Bill's purse strings are drawn tighter than a teenage wankers curtains. Verdict: Not happening.

Pienaar is 30 and £5M is a lot of money (particularly for Everton) for a 30 year old. I didn't understand why Everton didn't give him the pay he wanted before he initially left, if only just to get him to extend his contract and reserve our positiion. Having said that, Pienaar strung out extending his deal from the preceding summer and couldn't wait to go, and from recollection he refused to play in the Derby in January 2011 cause his state of mind wasn't right.

Lets not forget Pienaar himself, or his agent. Look at when he left that was all about money and the speculation was rife for weeks, with his agent spouting off. As usual fans are buying into he loves the club and its all Kenwright's or Moyes fault. WAKE UP! Greedy players have seen the new sky deal and want more of our money, end of. Let him rot at Spurs on a big wage packet if thats what it needs, and concertrate on finding the next Pienaar. Remember he only came on loan becaue he couldnt get a game.

It will come down to how Kenwright and Levy get on. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that little exchange! :o)
