Moyes Answers The Pienaar Question
Bookmark and Share

The "Has he signed yet?" question about Steven Pienaar's move was asked to David Moyes by reporters after Everton had drawn 1-1 win Motherwell on their mini tour of Scotland.

Moyesy said: "I think we are much closer to Pienaar and hopefully in time I will have something, but I don't quite have it yet."

Moyesy sounds as frustrated as the Everton fans.

If we get Pienaar then I will be happy with the squad we have as long as nobody important is sold. I read Lee Golbourn's comment and also saw the Baines price is coming down by the day (press talk). Man Utd won't get him for 8 million.

Levy is with his ill wife in America so maybe this is slowing things down?

He was our best player towards the end of last season. He is a must on our transfer list. Everyone else can be mabyes but he makes us tick. That's why Spurs will hold out for as much as we have got.

Moysey wouldn't say anything if he wasn't going to sign. It's sorted. Pienaar will be an EFC player very soon. Roll on United.

Just wish it was over and done with. I hate transfer windows and all the stupid gossip.

I hope we can get this deal sorted and reunite him with Baines. Every time we read about Utd's interest the price comes down. The other day it was 8mill. I'm sure Moyes has got a few plans before the new season starts. COYB IMWT.

Agree with Graham (comment 9). Sounds like Moyes is just waiting for any Yobo money to come through before we can get Peanuts. Frustrating for Moyes as he wanted any deals to be done early. As long as we get him, offload Yobo and hopefully Victor too then that will do me

I'm in danger of being bored to death by this one.

So basically we're just waiting for the Yobo deal to go through before we can sign Pienaar.

Levy, being aware of how much Pienaar means to Everton fans, will drive a hard bargain. If we could take or leave him they might have accepted a lower offer, but knowing he is our main target for this summer means they can hold out for a larger fee with confidence that we won't be scared off. It will happen, but they will squeeze us for as much cash as we can scrape together!

While I try to stay far away from transfer/pre-season gibberish I have to point out here that putting word "reasonable" and surname "Levy" in one sentence is an oxymoron. That man = creative financing/accountancy. I admit, never was fan of Pienaar (hothead & problems with gravity), but it is about time for this insignificant saga to end one way (preferably transfer) or another.

It will be interesting to see when this deal is concluded why it has taken so long ( if anthing is revealed). Is it us playing hardball? Problems with Pienaar Spurs contract, his wages or just the fact we don't have any money until Yobo has gone? Then again we may yet make an additional signing other than Pienaar that surprises us all. I think after this transfer window we will know our real financial situation.

In other words if Baines is sold to Utd for the money we actually want. We won't need Pienaar... otherwise he will be an Everton player before we kick off the season..

If we don't sell Yobo then we don't get Pienaar. Simple as that.

This is dragging on which is annoying! I think the problem of why no deal has been sorted out as yet, is because of the asking price of Daniel Levy. If he doesn't meet us halfway with a reasonable fee (Is Levy capable of being reasonable?) then we could be in for a long wait with this one!
