Everton Move For Out Of Contract German International
Bookmark and Share

With the news that Darron Gibson is out for up to a month and Ross Barkley is off onloan for a month, David Moyes is on the lookout for a midfield player out of contract who Everton can sign pronto.

Belgian Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe would have been the ideal replacement, but that deal went tits up. So Thomas Hitzlsberger (Tommy to his mates) may be the answer.

The 30 year old with the hammer of a left foot was released by Wolfsburg at the end of last season. Fans will remember him in claret and blue for the 'ammers and Villa. Hitz has over 50 German caps.

Moyesy said: "I feel we're a little short now in midfield, because Darron Gibson is out for a month, and I have to think longer term with Ross Barklay and look at his development, so it's time to allow him to go out on loan.

"Because of the situation with Ross I'm a bit disappointed over losing Vadis, because I'm a bit worried we do need cover. I've possibly got to look at players now who are out of contract, to maybe give us some cover over the next few months.

"There are not many around, especially without contracts, which are the only players we can sign right now, but I am looking."

German International - Premier League exeperience - Left footed - Goal scorer erm why are we waiting on this? No brainer, get him in on 6 month deal and see how he gets on!

I'd have him as cover. Love Jonny and think he's a great defender but please god keep him out of midfield.

Not a bad cover player if we get him in. Premiership experience, decent left foot and can do a job. Looked good for Wolfsberg last season but could not agree new deal with them, so it's not as if we would just be getting dead wood. Got to be worth a chance.

He's a well capped German international and he's free.

We don't need him. He's a free agent for a reason and our squad can cope for 3 weeks till Gibbo is back. He lacks pace as has played for Premier League teams that have struggled. The odd 30 yard shot does not mean you are good enough to get in today's Everton squad. Give Johnny H a run in team, much deserved after last season. Pienaar, Fellaini, Ossie & co will do the rest

Honestly, i would have preferred to give Ross a go, but as he isn't there i wouldn't mind having 'Tommy' on a year contract to see how he gets on.

This really would be a good bit of business, decent player, with premier league experience and one of the sweetest strikers of the ball around
