Hitzlsperger Plays For Everton
Bookmark and Share

Having trained with Everton for the past fortnight, Thomas Hitzlsperger played a full 90 minutes for Everton's Everton's Under-21 at Norwich last night.

Everton won 2-0 with goals from Apostolos Vellios and Conor Grant. Tommy(to his mates) was steady Eddie in the middle of midfield.

Moyesy must now take stock and decide if Everton should take the plunge on the German international.

Moyes said recently: "It is going to be a while until we are able to make a decision. He is building his fitness. He is enjoying doing the football work and we will step his work up next week but there will be no quick decision on that."

With Gibbo back to full fitness for the next game in 2 weeks, Do Everton need this fella?

Or will Tommy be an experienced midfielder ready made for the squad on a free. What do you think? Comment below.

I reckon this fella is well worth bringing in, we haven't got the biggest of squads and a player like Hitzlsperger isn't bad on a free. Give him a pay as you play deal until the end of the season, got nothing to lose really if you ask me. Also in my opinion I think without Gibson we've looked a little bit light in the middle, so more cover can't be a bad thing can it? Plus the lads got 50 odd caps for 'Ze Germans' so he's got added expeirience at the top level along with PL experience with Villa and West Ham. In my opinion its a no brainer! Sign him up Dave!

Blu-Tone (com #22) Yes you're right mate, but please don't confuse bashing to constructive criticism! Phil would be the 1st to tell you that he can do better! TBH the style of play we're playing at the moment doesn't suit him one bit and it needs saying without any bashing involved! We all know he can do a job for us in our previous style of play should we revert back to it at some stage! As for the lack of offers for Tommy, you're assuming Everton would have been/was his last choice! We all know that there are a multitude of top players out of contract, this year! The recession is still on! Clubs are getting much tighter with the purse strings and for good reason! We are in a good position at the moment to take advantage of this and if you don't believe me, ask any Rangers Fan! IMO Phil should thank his "Lovie Stars" (xD sorry couldn't resist that one) that he's still got a job in top flight where the game is increasingly getting more attack minded! RBs and LBs are the new wingers and CM needs to be more solid than ever!

No doubt Nev has been key to our improvement over last 8 years, but this team is looking to do better than that. Nev isn't able to be the centre mid that team needs. A squad player, cover for right back or league cup games realistically. He isn't going to break up Gerrard and Allen and Suarez play in the derby or threaten Toure, Augero and Barry at City is he? With teams playing one up top with five in the middle - Rooney is there now - centre mids have to be box to box and Nev would tell you isn't that. Get him a coaching role and groom him for that. Meanwhile go buy a big strong tackling lad like Tommy Grav to add some steel that is missing (Leeds and West Brom games showed that) and expect more out of Fellaini defensively. COYB

We gave Jimmy Mac a deal last season and he is lets be fair woeful. . Big Phil needs to start taking a back seat i think his legs have gone. The hammer will be a good addition to the current crop of players as cover for injuries to the like of gibbo ossie and the phil. A must for the rest of the season

With the news that Fellaini is likely to be out for about 3 weeks I think it is even more imperative that we sign Tommy.

Phil (16) and Joe(19) well said-Phil's given his all to this club and is a rare and dedicated player and motivator. Show some respect, the rest of you!

Didn't we bring in King Louis on a pay as you play deal ? So I see no problem here..the guy isn't flooded with offers is he ? And if DM sees what he wants then he'll keep him......somehow. The Neville bashing should stop, best on the field captain I've seen in many a long year. This rs style cannibalistic behaviour is not befitting of Royal Blue Blood.

If the lad is fit then it is a no brainer!. But that is the big IF and what DM is concerned about. Hopefully he can get there... we'll have a decent player on our hands and competition for what for me is still our weakest link in centre Midfield... Can you imagine Our Tater in the mix.... Oh.. I messed me trousers now!

If the wages are reasonable then we must sign him. Good player to have in the squad and it adds strength to the midfield and keeps everybody on their toes which is what we want

Neville can no longer produce it for every match, maybe not for many matches, maybe not for a full 90 minutes but I'm surprised how many of you seem to want to dump him in such a disrespectful way! He's a motivator, he's one of the very few players in our squad who has won many honours with an English Club, and this fella has given his heart and soul to Everton. I still believe that, in some way, he will be part of an Everton squad/backroom staff who finally win us another trophy. Show a bit of respect for an 'adopted' Evertonian, who has been a great servant to us since he came to Goodison.

Fellow blues we are playing some of the best footy we've played for years and Nev has played a vital part. I'm a big fan of Gibbo but wouldn't cast Nev off in favour of a lad whose had bad injuries and hasn't been picked up by a club over the last year. The first team is totally diff from u21s. I trust moyes on this. If he's still got it he'll sign him.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (most of the time) - is he a free agent? If so couldn't we offer him relatively fuck all money/pay as you play and see how it goes? Would be a shame to get him training, make him fit (which DM will do) and then he goes elsewhere and does well. I've always liked the kid and think he could do a job.

People keep going on about captain Phil not being good enough. You just wait till he's not in the team. We will lose the leadership he gives us with nobody else ready to take the reigns. It will be the same as last season struggling. Until we get another born leader for me he has to stay in the team. We must sign the Hammer though. Can't lose on a freeby.

Would love to see this guy in front of our back 4 breaking up attacks. Good intelligent player

Sign him up, nothing to lose. Hes a player who can hold the ball up well, has a great pass and theres some venom in his shot. Id rather him in central midfield than Neville.

Keith. just to hopefully clear the point...Hitzlsperger is not yet an Everton player, he is officially listed as a triallist. The rules of the new U21 competition allow clubs to field a triallist regardless of age.

If his salary is reasonable Everton should sign him. I would like to see Coleman at right back and form a partenersip with Mirallas. If so Moyes could have Gibson and Hitzlsperger in the team as defensive midfielders. It would allow either Baines or Coleman to go forward knowing there is good coverage behind them.

Strange! Not like Moyesie to dither! Only kidding! What with the financial restraints we've got, every penny counts!

Keith the ressies has been revamped to be a youth comp with the odd experienced player/possibly returning from injury, just like the olympics. Well thats my take on it.

Sign him up! Of course! No brainer! We are thin in the centre of the park in this guy is very experienced and steady. Definitely a great addition on a free. Give him a few games and he will proof to be a gem. I look forward to this great player joining us. Much much better than Phil in centre mid...

Sign him up. Solid and good on the ball. Also just another option. Also keith, you are allowed 3 over 21s in each team.

I'd say, hell yeah. We crave his experience in the middle, as someone rightly said Neville is past it and looks out of sorts in the position. Ideal cover. And you can field one over age player in a under21 game if you seek clearance first.

Keith, the u-21s is similar to olympics, you can have 3 over age players and an over age goalie

I say we should sign him. He would provide decent midfield cover especially as we have let Cahill and Rodwell go. Also i would hate to see us get him match fit only for somebody else to benefit.

Depending on his potential wage demands, it is a no brainer for me. With just one midfielder (Gibbo) out injured, we already look a bit thin and I really do not want to see Pip in that position.

Yeah, but how come he played for the Under 21s? He's 30!

I say sign him up. A useful player to have around. Good back up or a player to play left centre midfield along side Gibbo.
