
Phil Jagielka was released as a 15 year old at Everton and joined the youth academy at Sheffield United and then made his his first team debut on 5 May 2000 against Swindon in the last match of the season.
He established himself in the Sheffield United first-team in the 2002-2003 season, he signed a 3year deal with United in August 2006 having been made Captain. A versatile player who can play centre back or midfield.
Jags signed for Everton in July 2007 for £4m and Moyesy set about using him as a centre back alongside Joleon Lescott , they formed a strong partnership.
In season 2008/2009 Phil Jagielka was voted Player of the Season, Blue Kipper Star Man and also received full England honours. However an awkward fall in April caused a long term knee injury and robbed him of an FA Cup Final place, ironically after he had scored the winning penalty in the Semi-Final.
