Next
Season For Toby
Even
though he played 40 odd minutes for the reserves Toby will have
to wait until next season for a first team opportunity.
David
Moyes said:"We may give Tobias another hour on
Thursday against Leeds. But
he's struggled for a while now and we almost certainly won't
be able to consider him again until next season."(30/04/03)
£250k
for Europe!
I
think the phrase is 'sticks in your throat'!
Apparently, Everton will have to pay Toby's previous club Stabaek
£250,000 if we, sorry - when we, qualify for Europe, due
to a clause inserted in his contract.
In future we might want to add 'if the player plays 20+ games
and gets us there!' Tobias has been with us for over a year
and is yet to get into double figures for appearances and might
not even figure in Moyesy's future plans. Also, as the Scandanavian
club are reputedly over £2m in debt they are keeping a
close eye on our progress and are likely to be like wolves at
the door!
Whoever negotiates future contracts please take note. (09/04/03)

Off
To get injured again & miss
out on the premiership run in is bad enough, but Toby has missed
the chance of adding to his Tally of International caps.
“To
come back only to get another injury is very frustrating. I
just have to concentrate and work hard to get fit again and
hopefully I’ll be able to get a few games under my belt before
the end of the season. I don’t know really how long it will
be. I actually thought the last injury I sustained wasn’t too
bad, although it took a couple of weeks for me to return to
fitness. So, I have to take one day at a time and wait and see.
It was my first chance in the team and I was really enjoying
my football, but I got injured and I’m determined to get back
again. I felt fine until the middle of the second half when
I was reaching for the ball and I pulled something in my left
leg. I had almost three reserve games under my belt and I felt
that was coping with 90 minutes of football.” (20/03/03)
Kick
In The Goolies
Toby
lasted 40 minutes last night, he was forced off with a hamstring
injury and it doesn't look too good. He could be out for up
to 4 weeks. It will be a massive blow for him because he has
taken his chance with great displays against Arse, 'ammers and
Dirty Leeds.
Alan
Irvine said:"It's not a full tear but I'm told it's
a grade one so that could mean he's out for three or four weeks.
It is a real shame for Toby because he's just got back in the
team and there are a lot of players itching for the chance to
play." (07/11/02)
Full
90 For Sweden
He
can't get a sniff in at Everton at the moment but Toby played
the full game in the middle of the park for Sweden in their
1-1 draw against Hungary at the week -end. With the form of
Tommy Grav and Li Tie he may have to bide his time. (14/10/02)
Misquoted
Toby
is not a happy bunny. He has picked his dummy up and all his toys
and put them back in the pram. His quotes to the paper have been
misinterpreted
Toby
said: “I spoke with a journalist whilst I was back in Sweden
and I have been misinterpreted and misquoted.I didn't say those
things and I am disappointed that they have appeared in some newspapers.Obviously,
I am disappointed at not being involved but it is down to myself
to work hard and wait for my chance."
David
Moyes said:"Tobias has been to see me and explained that
his comments have been taken out of context and I know exactly
what he me3ans. There is no problem there."(24/08/02)
I
Won't Stay On The Bench
Has
Toby spat the dummy out, with a few of his toys? He is suggesting
that if he doesn't get a game soon he will look elsewhere. With
Li Tie jumping ahead of him in the pecking order he might have
to start his search.
Toby
said: "It came as a small shock to be benched. If it continues
like this, my national team place is in danger. I
will give it a go but if I am sitting on the bench for a longer
period, I will have to look at other alternatives."
"I need
to play regularly for my club side otherwise my national team
place is in danger. There's a limit to how long I can sit on the
bench. When I feel that I am not developing any more, I will have
to say so. If the manager does not want to invest in me, I will
have to have a discussion about my future at the club." (23/08/02)
Toby Signs
Tobias
Linderoth has completed a £2.5 million transfer from Norwegian
club Stabaek to Everton and will be in the squad to face Ipswich
on Saturday .The 22-year-old midfielder, who has played 17 times
for Sweden, signed a 4 & a half year deal.
Tobias
says: "I am delighted the deal has gone through, Everton
seems like a great club and there are a lot of Swedes here now.I
only heard about the move yesterday, so it has all happened very
quickly, but I am glad that it has been completed. I have spoken
to them before when we have met up with the national team, we
have spoken a bit about Everton and they have only said positive
things about the club. I want to be a better football player and
I want to do my best to for the club. It is going to be different,
the pace is a lot faster and it should help me immensely because
this is one of the best leagues in the world."
Toby, to his Blue Kipper mates, will wear the number 22 shirt
(not a Jersey,as they call it on the official site. Has the fella,
who writes thier stuff ever....). Gazza & Pembo welcomed young
Toby by pinching his clothes & wearing them around Bellfield,
while the lad had his medical. Looking at the gear he had on,
they should have binned it. Me Grandad has got a zip-up like that.
He'd say: "Spend some of that Cabury's on some decent stuff,
Toby lad." (31/01/02)
